Default When do I need to upgraded my intercooler?

So at what power level does the stocker become obsolete?

From what I've read, the stock TMIC can support around 400hp, but the ms6's lack of good air ducting to it makes it a bottleneck even at stock levels, so you'll see a benefit upgrading it no matter how much power you're putting down.
This is my $.02 gathered from what i've collected in reading here...

I wonder if the added weight and the cost is worth it. Thanks for your input

FMIC is the way to go. If you really think about it the "added weight" is only maybe 10/15 lbs of pipes (if that) depending on the kit. You can shed that weight easy just by modding the exhaust wiether it be CBE, test/track pipe or even just a DP on.

And if you do go FMIC invest in good T-bolt clamps.

You will be limited on the stock intercooler with those mods. The tune will end up not freeing up all the power you could have, as the OE intercooler heat soaks surprisingly fast, and you'll end up with knock-limited power very early without a more efficient, aftermarket intercooler.

Also, you should absolutely have the HPFP installed before you get to the TBE unless you want to risk blowing up.

You don't have to upgrade it but cool air is happy air. Also I don't know if you are planning on upgrading in that order but hpfp before tbe.

The mods will not be completed in that order. Looks like I'll have to start looking into purchasing one.

Ideally I'd like to go 12s.

Talking from own experience, go along for a ride in one with stock TMIC, then with one with FMIC and keep an eye on the intake temperature.
You'll see the difference there that the FMIC will stay cooler for a much longer time then a TMIC.
And we all now when air is most/best compressed, and that is when it's cold, so, the longer you keep the intake air cool, the more efficient and more HP you'll have in the end.

So theoretical, a FMIC is even useful for the simplest of tuning you do.

I did everything you listed above including the TMIC, except the suspension, all at once. Now were tuning for e85 and Im happy as shit with the mod choices ive made.

Definitely the way to go if you can IMO.

Intercooler upgrade should be priority but maybe not a top priority depending on where you live. I live in Arizona where it's dry and hot all the time. I upgraded my intercooler before anything else because after lots of research the stock one, even on a stock car is mediocre. I got a good deal on it so I installed a CorkSport TMIC. I have considered swapping it out for a front mount but the MS6's require more work than the MS3's to install it and I'm working on lots of other things on the car at the moment.

from what ive read on here, the stock TMIC isn't flow limited on a stock turbo. the issue is the heat it will dissipate... if you go with a meth kit, it can offset that.

I would say yes. Although, reading your plugs is always best you should have already gone a step colder as a precautionary step since your starting to add mods. These cars practically needed a step colder from the factory so you won't run into issues with step colder plugs even on a stock car. Go a couple steps colder without first reading your plugs and you are asking for problems.

I'm sure more power is to be made with the fmic along with cooler temps but my goal is to run 12s spending the least amount of money.

Meth = cooler BATs = more power. You can use meth for aux fueling, cooling, or both.
