(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Summit Racing SUM-G1199 - Summit Racing® Battery Relocation Kits - Overview - SummitRacing.com summit kit has everything you need some optional but recommended items are distributor block for connecting the two positives inline fuse for the new positive cable for the stock ground i modified the terminal clamp to fit onto my tranny mount bolt. routed it via passenger side because my meth tank was on the driver to bolt the battery tie downs if you want to do it the way i did it, get a drill bit and drill out the rivets holding the muffler heat shield underneath the car. careful with placement because there is part of the frame where my battery sits right now.

| Not Ranked : 0 score nice. was waiting for someone to do this. its on my to do list. if someone wanted a slightly easier way to route it, id follow the 4 metal lines from the engine bay back to the rear diff area. theres a small rubber access hole right above the diff (to access a diff bolt from the factory) which leads into the trunk area. its how i ran my w/m line.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Just an FYI for those planning to do this and run at NHRA tracks, this will not pass tech inspection without a kill switch on the outside of the car that kills battery power and alternator power.

| Alright...flame me if you must, but I've been wondering something . . . I understand the goals of a battery relocation to the rear. In no particular order they're something like this: 1. Improve weight distribution 2. Lower center of gravity 3. Improve space in the engine-bay for power mods 4. Put it in a place where if a spill/outgassing event should occur, the battery won't create a toxic environment for the driver. 5. other stuff... So...given that the trunk is a nice big, open area that satisfies these needs, I can understand why people move the battery in there. Now...aside from the fact that there are certain spacial restrictions, is there any particular reason that everyone who moves the battery puts it IN the trunk, rather than working out a way to fit it between the trunk and the passenger compartment, behind the rear seats? I suppose the most obvious problem is that it's a narrow space for a battery, but it would otherwise satisfy the list of criteria above. I've seen some motorsports batteries (obviously not ideal if we're talking "deep cycle" units), that seem like they might fit. Moreover, with that as a location, it strikes me that the trunk wouldn't have a giant intrusion from the battery-box, and you wouldn't really lose any utility. Thoughts???
