You barely had to cut anything out of the crash bar, nice! How does it fit into the bumper, like does it get in the way of the undertray? I am going this route this summer if there are no other complications. Pics in bumper when your done please

Would a treadstone TR6 be to small for a stock turbo 20psi or so?

Did you relocate the washer tank or did you do the routing so you could keep it? If I could get that core in with the washer I would be so sold haha.

Very nice. I'm going to be picking up a TR8 at some point and this thread will come in handy.

rich is going to need to relocate the washer tank. its just a matter of finding a new tank and transferring the pump over to the new one. i built my own tank that goes on the drivers side but i really need to relocate that too because its so damn ghetto lol

when i did my fmic, i mounted the washer tank on the drivers side, and i used a washer tank out of a 92-95 honda civic.

being that it has a long neck makes it fit kinda nice, you just need to find a way to mount it.

@nattun
@h.h.sk1nny

These guys found with a little trimming the piping can be run between the chassis and and radiator shroud.

I did mine without relocating the washer as well, similar to @h.h.sk1nny , I ran mine by the power steering pump, it is a really tight fit.

It looks like you're not using the top inch or two of the top of your intercooler though, why not cut that to use the airflow rather than butt it up against the crash bar?

i love reading these project threads. especially MS6 related for once.

When i get my own garage and a basic DD replacement, i can finally tear down my car for a week and just work on this crap at a nice relaxed pace, rather than rushing through the weekend to make sure i have a car by monday.

It looks like you're not using the top inch or two of the top of your intercooler though, why not cut that to use the airflow rather than butt it up against the crash bar?

Which is why i asked about the TR6. That 2inches he cut out can probably stay with the smaller core if your still running the k04.

Did you have to move that A/C line at all? It looks like its directly in the way.

And does the treadstone come with those mounts?

TR8?

Any pics with bumper on?

I didn't have to move the A/C lines, its just a really tight fit, mine is the TR8 yes, mine did not come with any mounts, luckely I had some scrap brackets and got some bolts. I'll take a pic and have it up in a few hours if I remember with the bumper on

I want to do this so bad. But don't know if I want to cut the crash bar. Plus no one around me has an MS6 who's done this, nor a MS3. So don't know if I should get a bunch of Mazda buddies together n have my car be the test car or not lmao.

@superskaterxes

So you went out and around with the piping instead up right next to the radiator. Why not go route it closer like others have. Less piping, no need to fuck with the washer tank.

lol, I was thinking that as well.

@2.3speed06 It is a pain in the ass, so you have to have the dedication and willingness to customize. However, its more or less time consuming getting everything to fit right. Now that it's done, I'm glad I did it

Are there any advantages/disadvantages to running the bov on the hot side? From what I understood it was best to have the bov as close to the TB as possible.

What about all the air between the valve and the tb. Wouldn't that air wanna travel backwards? And then have to reverse its path again?

if your running stock turbo you dont need this size core. the stock turbo cant produce enough flow to make it a restriction so you can go with a smaller core that doesent require you to cut the crashbar.

IMO i dont like that design because its just too close to all the pulleys/belt. last thing you want is to have your piping rubbing the belt vs having to fill a different smaller WWF tank more often.

Any suggestions on what size? Or a specific one I can buy. I plan on staying with stock turbo for awhile. I've been following a couple custom FMIC threads cuz I wanna do this. I think I got the piping kit to get picked out.

Very nice work Ant. Welder mod will certainly save you a lot of time, but you did a great job with the tools you had.

How much did all the couplers cost? And my guess is your the reason siliconeintakes .com is out of stock, hahaha.

you need to go by the max CFM your turbo can make. the GT3076 can do 54 lbs/min which is approx ~750CFM

the TR8 is rated to 715 which just means its efficient up until that point. after that it becomes a restriction but you can always push through that with more boost.

i would say something similar to the TR6 would be good for stock turbo.

i think rich's total was around 350 for everything including core/couplers/clamps/pipes.

and no i get everything from CXracing. ive prob spent almost 1k from them in the past month building kits for people haha. their shit is actually really nice quality and ive been running it since i had my first FMIC way back in the stock turbo days lol.

Have you or have you seen anyone mount the TR6? I seen the other smaller core on the other thread, but can't figure out if it's the TR6 or not. Thanks for all the help tho!!
