i like that comment, but i cannot say that about mine lol. i definitely get more love than hate from mine though. maybe if i just hacked the shit out of it just to get it done, it would be a different story, but if you make it look good and not hacked, than why not?

My fmic has been interfering with my driver's fog housing for a while now, I need to move my intercooler back a few inches and I think I'm gonna steal that mounting scheme you have setup there. Looks grrrreat.

Can't wait 'till mine is finished. Gotta get the bov adapter coupler like yours. So it'll be later this week for me.

Fail pipe is fail... Using the pipe I got with the bov in the same location would look ghetto-rigged.

... I left the vta fin at Ant's btw...

I like their aluminum a lot. The 3.25" pipes are very thick walled and sturdy. And the 2.5" piping is perfect for all my ic stuff.

Ya i was looking there. All they're stuff is a little more money than they're stuff is on ebay. But i didn't see any of those bpv flanges.

I'm considering the same BOV setup VTA. Whats the trick to tuning for this? Or can it only be done with blow thru?

you want to bring your ign timing limit (min) tables closer to 0...this will help reduce backfire. However, I still get the occasional pop.

that looks nice.. but i want a FMIC to fill the entire opening.. not site so low... you know.?.

too bad there is no way to mod tha crash bar so the fmic sits further up.. & fills the entire front grill opening.

i bought a used fmic off here like 2or3 yrs ago.. & just never installed it.. its just sitting in my basement.. It was designed to fill the entire opening..
maybe ill toss that on this yr.. i should actually do it now.. since my mazda is out of commission for a brake master cyl...
hrmm too many projects right now...

nope, standard maf but theres a super straight section of pipe before the TB if you wanted to go that route.

k. just wondering since i see you have it VTA and there wasn't a clear shot of the straight pipe you speak of.

Going FMIC is a chance to change many things. Many things i've been considering.

And what about the positioning of the BOV? Wouldn't the air travel backwards threw the intercooler as its being blown out? Could that affect spool?

so here's how to get the tank working.

first buy this tank:

76801SR0A02 Windshield Washer Expansion Tank New Honda Civic 95 94 93 92 Auto | eBay

honda part number 76801SR0A02 if u wanna buy it somewhere else.

first i removed the pump it came with and bought a (i think 3/4") barbed cap from home depot/lowes in the plumbing section.

plug the existing hole

then you want to extract the old pump and grommet from the OEM tank.

drill a hole (cant remember what size it was but i wanna say 1.25" (ill check on this) and push stock grommet in

insert pump

cut one of the tabs off the top of the neck to fit better

to mount it i just used a piece of square aluminum and drilled 2 holes in it. i had to smash the bottom end because the stock stud sticking out of the frame wasent long enough.

there's a tab on the side of the tank that matches up perfectly with where i drilled the hole in the aluminum. otherwise everything should be pretty straight forwards. you will need to extend the wires for the stock connector and extend the rubber hose itself to reach the other side of the car. here's final install picts

Docnox likes this.

anyone thought about using the TR8L core? or at least a core that is longer to fit the rest of the mouth of the grill? just out of curiosity.

was thinking about replacing my CX core with Treadstone core, heard temps are WAY better, is this not true? ....or a bad idea maybe? Treadstone TR8 is 1 inch shorter, but a full 1 inch THICKER, and 1.3 inches TALLER....is it worth it?

If you search the internet enough you can find pics of the inside of the cx racing intercoolers. And they look poorly made. The edges are rough and the welds are not that great. Conversely, more expensive intercoolers are obviously better made particularly on the inside.

I know a lot of people run the CX stuff with success and no problems. I'm not debating usability, but rather quality. There's a reason a big ass core form CX cost 129 and a small core from treadstone cost 220.

For me, i'll use CX for piping and couplers and the such. But as for the core i want something a little better.

honestly i had a CX core (rich's in this thread) and a TR8 (for mike aka @MS3inDC) in identical sizes and other then the fin density inside, everything was identical as far as quality goes.

So you think the TR8L is better than the regular TR8?

what are your thoughts on it?

Which is better depends on one's POV. The TR8 would be easier for me to mount/fit.

But in the end for me it is just an engineering decision based upon my flowrate requirements. Even if the TR8L is slightly less efficient at heat transfer, I have plenty of meth/eth to tolerate that.

I am electing to go with the TR8L instead of the TR8 as I would be pretty much at the max flow rating of the TR8 (around 2 PSI press drop) and the entire point of upgrading is to greatly reduce my current ~5 PSI IC restriction with my CXRacing IC0035.

I am hoping to be in the 1-1.5 PSI pressure drop on the TR8L.

Thanks for writing up the washer tank install, I've been putting that off too long.

I guess it doesn't really matter but what size bolts did you use to mount your intercooler and connect the brackets??

Exellent tip on the reservoir.
unfortunately no one seems to be shipping it overseas...

Suppose that reservoir is just intended for your market since it listed to fit only usa-vehicles.
Would have been great to just pop in to the local parts-shop with the part no, but i'm sure i will find something that works.

You guys don't have headlight washers on your MS6:es there?
Haven't really noticed until i read skates reservoir howto and saw that only one pump was installed in thw new reservoir.

@superskaterxes; Great write up dude, wondering if you are able to post a part list at all and how you connected it together from Turbo to TB
