Default H&R Coilover Pictures.

i've never actually seen a picture of the MS3 H&R coilovers. all the marketing pics i've seen have not been of the MS3 model, and no one that's gotten them has actually posted pics that i've found. for you H&R coilover owners: did you bother to take any pictures before popping them in?

i'm still waiting for mine to come in off of backorder, so i wanted something to look at in the meantime...

You and me both buddy.

I have some install pics for the MZ3 variant. If there's something you want to see that Not Yellow failed to post (which I doubt) let me know.

if you have some assembled pics of the MZ3 variant, that would be really nice to see. i'm pretty sure i know what i need to do (pull the stockers apart and put it all minus the bump stops on the H&Rs), but it would be nice to see detailed pics of the final product before installation if you happen to have any.

Here are a few photos. Sorry for the wierd angles. Couple of design flaws:
1. The brake line bracket is too small and needs to be widened to accommodate the MS3 brake line. Can be done with simple tools.
2. The rear adjustment perch is inverted and a pain to adjust. You will most likely have to disassemble the rears to access.
3. Front endlink bracket sits too high and is comparable to stock. It needs to sit about .5-1" lower. As a result I would recommend longer endlinks.

Few things I liked:
1. Front strut is inverted and allows for a bit more suspension travel. You can see in the photo there's about 3" of travel at full droop before the internal bump stop is engaged.
2. Rear shocks are .75" lower than stock and allow for increased suspension travel.

Side by side:

Front springs:

Rear springs:

Fronts installed:

thanks for posting those, Design! you said that those are for the MZ3 variant, right? how did you deal with the front end link bracket sitting too high? was it hard to get the end link attached?

No, re-attaching the endlinks is simple while in the air. What happens is that the sway bar sits a bit higher than its intended position as the car is lowered. I'm lowered 1.6" in front and am getting some noise from the sway bar bushings. Longer endlinks should fix this issue. I won't be sure until I replace them though...

ahhh...so if i didn't lower the car as much, i should be better off? i'm looking at minimum drop in the front (1.2") and about the same in the back. max suspension travel 4tw...

I have a 2007 MS3 with 47k and a busted front strut with COBB springs....I pulled the trigger yesterday and ordered the H&R coilovers...I reside in the Richmond VA area and the coils are scheduled to arrive next Tuesday from Seattle. Time to find a good mechanic so i can hand him the key....

Yeah but it sounds like it's from the distribution hub in Seattle. Time to bug a few sites and see if they're back in stock.

especially since vividracing is located in Arizona...Couldn't wait anymore, one of the struts is leaking bad...Should've went with H&R coils from the get go.

save your money up for coils, or just leave the suspension alone, because just getting springs leaves you with a bleeding hole in your pocket as you burn through shocks every 1-2 years.

i should actually be free next sunday. if we can't do that, then we'll have to wait until the weekend of the 19th. PM me some contact info, and we'll work out the exact details. i've taken my shocks/springs off so many times by now that we shouldn't have any problems at all...=d

i called up SU about my coils, and it looks like their distributor has actually not gotten their shipment of H&R coils just yet. hopefully, though, they will be in soon and i'll have mine in time for an H&R installation bananza... if not, don't worry about me...i can probably knock out the install one of these days after work.

yea, i've been tempted a few times by good used deals on springs but when i really think about it, it's the dampening that i really don't like on the car. A little stiffer would be nice but that floaty feel and when you hit a bump in the road on a turn the car just doesn't put the wheels back down quick enough.

Don't fall to temptation, the ms3 OEM struts are not able to handle after market springs, my kidneys are suffering because of them...

from the pics you posted, it looks like the dust covers on the front shocks are removable. can you pull them off and see if there's bump stops in there or something? i'm trying to figure out what they mean by bilsteins having "internal bump stops"...=d

I did read on one of the forums that the bumpstops in the front are not needed while the ones in the back are. I'll be picking up a pair of useless front bumpstops this weekend . Apparently the bumpstops for the back are needed but are not sold separately from the rear struts. Hopefully mine are still in OK condition. The coilovers come with no instructions at all, any idea where to start with height adjustment? thanks
