Necessary to trim KYB bump stops?

I had found a thread previously that recommended buying these for use with Koni shocks:

If I remember right, one or two people in that thread had mentioned possibly needing to trim the bump stops so the car doesn't sit on them. I was unable to find photos or an example of exactly what/where to trim.

Has anyone used these that can tell me what needs to be cut or post pics of them after trimming?

Is your car on lowering springs? Maybe trim bump stop to match factory length? Why not reuse the factory bump stops?

Car is on stock springs. Factory bump stops are pretty bad shape from what i saw of them. I haven't had a good look at them in a while but on that same thread I had found people mentioned the bum stops were in pieces upon removal, so I figured better to just have new ones on hand.

I'm not positive they need to be trimmed and I've tried to find that old thread again to confirm but I remember one or two guys saying they did trim them.

I had to buy new ones as mine were in pieces but there was enough pieces to put together that I could measure how much to cut off on the new ones. I'm on factory springs and stock replacement shocks and struts. Drives fine for me.

I used bump stops similar to these and trimmed up from the larger section to a little longer than my busted stock bump stops. I think I ended up trimming about two inches or so.

So I would trim from the "top" that goes into the mount? Or trim from the bottom that attaches to the dust boot? The top is form fit to the shock mount and presses in, the bottom I can only cut to the "ring" that the dust boot attaches to

I trimmed mine from the bottom that attaches to the dust boot. I guess it doesn't really matter too much as long as it stays in position. After all the bump stops are there to essentially prevent your shocks from bottoming out completely.

Ok I'll trim the bottom all the way to the "ring" that the dust boot attaches to. Thanks!
