Default pads arent parallel to rotor, suggestions?

So, im going to the track tomorrow, and I borrowed some USED HP+ pads from jroc to check em out before buying some new ones of my own.
Long story short, brake pedal feels weird, i have little brake modulation, and i figured it could be multiple things like, pads settling in, needed to bleed brakes, simply different feel to pads.

I finished bleeding brakes, and after having the pads on for a few days, i snapped a couple of pictures to show u how the angle at which they wore on jrocs car, is slightly different than the angle on my rotor, so basically they sit at an angle

now.... its not a huge deal, but, i wanted to know if there were any suggestions or concerns u could think of?
again, im gonna track the car tomorrow, probably gonna take it easy for the first couple of sessions to get the feel for em, and to help em settle in.

heres some pics

looking at it from on top of the rotor

so, thinking about it in terms of brake modulation, this would definitely explain why i have little brake modulation right?... i mean, its like... little piston compression, little pad contact... or, lots of piston compression, lots of pad contact...

i think in terms of graphs cause thats what i do every day, maybe this explains what i mean...

Hmm interesting. Honestly, I probably wouldnt run them like that, and if I had known they were sitting angled like that, I wouldnt have given them to you. Sorry bud. Didnt know I hate to say it but you might wanna throw the stock pads back on. Hopefully it wont take you 2 hours a side again.

I could bring my brake bleeder to the track tomorrow also.

if you wanna switch them out lemme know if you want help later

im gonna go for a drive since I just bled the brakes and see how the car feels. The brakes are working fine, they are just not as easily modulated as the stock ones, but from thursday to friday they got a lot better, im gonna go hit the brakes hard on a lonely road, and check em again at night, if they still look like this, ill swap em out.
The stock ones dont look that great either lol

stock paid fail. I think they got fucked after Musselman honda track. that track was a bitch on the brakes and tires.

its hard to appreciate on the pictures, but, they are like... eaten out, wherever u can see its not shiny, theres actually some material missing, like a cavity

I wonder if your rotors are worn unevenly. Looking at those stock pads, it looks like the top portion was getting used more than the bottom based on the wear pattern. Which may by chance explain the hawks arent sitting parallel? Possibilty?

note, the entire pad DOES hit the ENTIRE rotor when i hit the brakes... i can tell cause some marks i put all along it got completely removed. Its just that it doesnt hit the rotor in a parallel fashion, so it makes it tricky to do the smooth braking in the city. When I slam on it (like I will at the track), the fuckers stop the car fast!

definitely a possibility, im not blaming the pads. it could be my rotors. Ill go get em checked at brake masters before I purchase the new pads.

certainly. im not too worried about that though, as these will be very temporary. I will purchase new pads soon, I just wanted to geet a feel for these before buying em. My thoughts are... after a few easy sessions at the track, they will wear more evenly. Its a private track day, so i can have 20 sessions at the track if i want.

Fwiw, these pads have been on 3 different sets of rotors on my car (stock first, D/S second and now the daily, slotted 3rd/current set of race day rotors).

^^ well, while thats a possibility, I doubt its the case in this instance. I dont feel any vibration or anything like that... so yeah.

I went for a ride, going up to 50-60-80- and up to 90 mph and slamming on the brakes... they work pretty fucking well. they stop me fast, and the nice thing is... i felt like I could feel when the wheels were about to lock, and was able to stay on that verge nicely.... something i never felt on the stock ones...

I feel confident they will be fine tomorrow after a session or two. heres the contact patch ive seen in the past few days...

as i expected, the pad is probably just wearing down a bit more on the inside, helping it sit more parallel on the roto, and gaining area of contact. theres still a bit left untouched on the rotor, but im confident it will be ok by tomorrow.

All aboard the failboat!

Lol.

That sucks man. I didn't happen to see this thread yesterday but I'll chime in now anyway...

These cars are somewhat notorious for unevenly wearing the front brake pads (especially under hard use). It's pretty much a consequence of having such a huge pad (with a relatively large "circumferential area of contact") and only one piston. They tend to wear the leading edge substantially faster than the trailing edge of the pads.

I wouldn't worry about it beyond being aware that until they "even out" a bit, you may be dealing with less of an ability to modulate them (as you already figured out).

A lot of guys will actually swap from side to side each track day to get more even wear...

always run new pads, with turned rotors, or new!

that could make for a very hot spot and cause rotor to come apart, also as you found out, undesirable stopping characteristics, pulsing wheel, grabby, list goes on!

not worth it

especially if your racing.....
