Language setting Japanese to English

Hi,

Is there a way to change the settings on my DVD system from Japanese to english perhaps a CD? I've been in to dealerships, Jap import wreckers, forums and all have said this car is made for the Japanese market only, you will have to swap it out.

Standard system, i pulled the door panels and unit out to check it's not a BOSE system.
OEM unit i'm looking at $699 + Labour $100 + Wiring $65 + Free map updates $55 all in NZD.

i found menu button but no settings.
i've added a pic of the options inside menu.

i also went roaming through the unit looking for language or settings but to no avail.

I've tried using Googlefu to help you out more. But all I got was posts about how Mazda refuses to give the maps for updated locations. I'm on a phone and it won't let me zoom in on picture to get a better idea. Hopefully someone here who spent more time in Japan than me can give a chime. It really shouldn't be that hard except that in Japan there is actually three written forms which make this harder to solve

I'd just keep hitting buttons inside menu until u find something that looks familiar (like 英語 and/or 言語

Can you get a picture with the options bigger? I can't open the attachment for some reason.

Also, take a picture of the menu after you click, "表示変更”

No dice, I looked at all the characters and the "speak" is missing, I can't find it. I recommend going back one level and try sounds and see if it's in there, if not jus keep trying buttons.

Also, I found dozens of searches for this exact issue (same exact car too) turns out no one solved it (or posted such), if you do figure it out post results for future searches. my apologies.

Check "その他”. I feel like your in the NAV setting menu. Is there a home screen for this car?

So I found 表示変 and this is what it shows.

I had a play around and by the icons it's just a search field for the nearest petrol station, fast food restaurant etc etc.

I also found a tools icon but that was more showing you how your car is tracking, it had tyres icon, oil icon, air filter icon, etc etc.

Still on the search for my clues.

Hi Joe,

Did you find a solution? I have the same system and can't figure it out. I would be happy to install a new aftermarket system but can't find a wiring diagram for the original harness.
