Default Illumination wire? Please help

I have a 2008 Mazdaspeed 3 with no Bose and no Nav. I need to find where the illumination wire is located in the stock harness so i can tap into it.

Can someone please help me out, i have my car apart in my driveway and this is the last piece of the puzzle.

If I'm not mistaken I believe it's orange. I'm not sure though. That's how it's been on my last three cars.

i can't seem to find any answers on it. I thought i was 1g in the pin, but there is no wire even in that section. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

any know the color?

Depends what you illumination wire you mean, the interior illumination wire?
Also do you want it to be dimmed with the use of the dimmer dial on the left?

What are you installing that needs it?

Hi "theurgy", thanks for being so exact with your questions. I am installing a stereo into my car and i want the unit to dim when the headlights come on. i accidentally wired into the dimmer switch and need to get the right wire this time. Any help is appreciated. i have a 2008 mazdaspeed 3 with no Bose and no Nav.

What harness are you using, mated to what stereo? When I wired mine up, everything on the aftermarket harness and stereo harness pretty much lined up perfectly, no need to hunt down wires.

Oh, and the more helpful answer could be "I'm pretty sure it was orange, maybe with a white or silver stripe."

Yeah, are you using one of those OEM adapter harnesses?

Make sure you use one of those and not cutting the stock harness off.

He shouldn't need to use an add a fuse. If he's wiring his stereo the right way, using a harness, he shouldn't have to tap anything.
