I personally wasn't a fan of the HPS when I had them. Initial bite wasn't there.

Just blank rotors from NAPA & Hawk HPS will be sufficient. You need to bed them in til they smoke, after they cool, initial bite will be there. I've used them on every car for the last 5 years. Great DD pad, and if I turn them into a camp fire, I just slow down.

They are not a purely performance focused pad, but they work well for what they are. Stoptech has a pad that is supposed to be capable of 1300 degrees, may want to check those out too. That's better than most track focuses pads, and they claim they are for DD.

If you want a decent performance pad, and don't mind occasional noise, Hawk HP+ only in the front is the way to go. HP+ (front) & HPS (rear) works well with the natural brake bias of the Miata.

Got a pretty sweet deal on tire rack, no tax or shipping. Would have cost me 170 shipped for HPS front and rears from project G. Also should have my TBI tube in next week! So I can run 12psi safely. Quick question, where my boost is set at now, I'm hitting like 9psi on 2nd, 10 in 3rd, and 11psi (and then it goes down to 9-10ish) in 4th and 5th. Why?

Step 1: what psi SHOULD it be running? Stock ECU minus the fuel card?

MBC controls max boost only. If you set it based on 3rd/4th gear pulls, you likely won't reach that value in lower gears. Which is OK.

Yup, I know it isn't 100% ideal, but I would rather have safe boost in 3rd and up, vs worrying about hitting max boost in 2nd and then overboosting like crazy in 4th. Which is the downside of an MBC

I'm buying a boost control solenoid off a friend when I end up getting my DIYPNP

So not to be a dick, but will you still be slow after boosting? What are some reasonable expectations?

What do you mean? Like will a miata still feel slow after you boost it?

Well I've always thought of it as severely underpowered, especially for it's handling capabilities. I'm still considering getting one, just curious what kind of powerplant options are out there and trying to decide on some goals.

Well, I have a friend with a supercharged 2000 with 261 wheel and he doesn't like the super charger apparently. Actually bought my wheels off of him.

Also have driven a stock miata. Definitely slow, but mines making almost twice the stock power. It doesn't feel slow at all, it's a blast to drive. I absolutely love it. I always mess with my friend with an n/a NA, I was going about 50 in third and let him get up to like 80 and right as he started passing me I floored it and it was no competition. I love having boost. Its not a drag car but its fun to drive and there's nothing like building boost coming out of a corner and then flooring it out of the corner, the acceleration feels awesome. Sorry, its kind of hard to describe.

tl;dr it doesn't feel slow to me, I love it.

My friend has a 2014 mustang (v6 auto... I know) but they make 305 crank from the factory and he's got some mods and said he's making 340(probably not) but I got him by like 3 cars on 7lbs of boost

My mistake. I haven't really raced anyone else that I could compare to. @btstarcher, you live in in Little Rock right? If you're in Hot Springs just hit me up on Facebook and you can drive my car.

I'd say my miata with a gt2560r at 11psi is about equal to a tuned speed with basic flow mods on 93.

220whp for 2300lbs vs 285whp with 3200lbs

So it's definitely not slow, not fast, but not slow

I live in Russellville, work in Pine Bluff. So I'm not far. I'd like to see if I can squeeze my fat ass in the Miata LOL

Haha! I'm pretty tiny so I have no problems but I've had plenty of my larger friends fit in it fine. May rub your knees on the steering wheel though. I'm trying to buy my friends Momo wheel

That tiny ass turbo is not worth the trouble. EMS, EM, DP, Injectors, $2k later, you picked up what, 25-30whp after drowning the car w/ meth @ 15psi? I groan people for ill-thought plans, deal with it.

No big deal; you could have just pointed that out though. I don't remember much about the SR20DET; just the name Disco Potato. And I don't even remember what that is LOL. It was probably 8 years ago, and my memory only goes back to around yesterday.

A disco potato is a 2871R. The T25 on the SR20 is a 2557 or some shit like that. Similar to the IHI turbo he already has, but capable of a few more psi before turning into the Mother of Dragons. Which is where the extra hp comes from. If you want a significant upgrade, you want a 2560R. But there are so many legit turbos on the market these days, you need to find out what exhaust mani you want to run, and go from there.

EDIT: Stop looking at fag40sx forums. Go to miataturbo.net, it's the MSF of Miata forums. Look at what setups people have been commonly using for years, and then using the marketplace to start buying meaningful parts. Of course, after you get tires, and an EMS.

It's a t28, I thought it was a 2560r

I 2nd the miataturbo.net. it's where I bought my car, and where I get all my info

Edit for 5am dyslexia

2nd edit, gt2860r is the disco potato. I run essentially that on my car and at 11psi it put down 220whp. It could run 15psi easy on a 1.8, but that would likely go boom on stock internals

TBI finally shipped... And brake pads should be here wednesday. I borrowed a friends fender roller and heat gun so I can do my one fender(yes.. one unrolled fender. I guess the PO had a fender bender and had to replace some stuff) while I do the brakes, since i'm going from a 205 to a 225 and I'm not sure about fitment. I should be able to place the order for tires either friday or next monday. The RS3's I'm looking at from tire rack are on back order currently. I hope to get them before the next autocross on Nov. 15th. Also, here in arkansas it's hard to find a dyno, but there's a dyno day 3 hours away in Jonesboro on November 8th. I just don't know about taking off work two saturdays in a row to run autocross and to dyno my car but that would be awesome.

Arkansas Performance and Exhaust has a dyno and its $125 per 3 pulls. They also allow tinkering with tune in between runs, atleast this is what I was told a few weeks ago.

Oh yeah, that's where Kevin with the 500+ hp Repu works. I was going to have him do a good street tune on my car once I went standalone. I'll probably just have my friend with a turbo e30 help me get a good base tune and then have Kevin work out the kinks and throw it on a dyno. Thanks.

Mazda's Rotary truck from like the 70s made in like, 74-78? Pretty rare, I think this has the engine out of an FD with a big single turbo but don't quote me on that. Last I checked it was making about 550RWHP with 2500lbs. Him autocrossing looks like him drifting hah, I've seen both. Spin out city. Really badass truck

Discount Tire has those tires I believe, and they don't charge for shipping.
