2 cheap knobs. $10 for a tap. $9 for two unthreaded plastic knobs at the hardware store. Intended for riding mowers I think. Kinda small, but light and because it sits lower, it makes it a short throw. Shifts good.
Second was an aluminum part we scrapped at work. I cut the end off and threaded it. Looks kinda cool, but not the most comfortable. Whatever. One of a kind and good enough for occasional use.
For both I used a short section of fuel hose to space out between the knob and shift boot.

I'm honestly surprised that nobody has corksport's new shifting knob... I really loved it, and it looks good with leather and red stitching! I almost ordered it, but it disappeared from corksport website! but i do like TWM big type R satin too, I might will be getting that instead.

WHERE can I get one of these? I had a JBR shifter plate and weight but went BACK to the stock weight because the shifts weren't as smooth as I'd have liked. I picked up a FMIC and it came with a shift weight (for clearance) so I'm thinking I have to bite the bullet and go with a lighter weight. So I've trying to get the leverage or weight ion the knob. SO, where can i score one of these?

Stock 2014 knob here. Much more spherical than the stock one, lighter too which I like

bought this off a member here and it replaced my old derlin $22 knob. its weighted and originally had a textured feel about it. i sanded it down and threw a few coats of gloss black on it and finished it off with a few coats of clear. i may go a different color cuz it seems too dark but we'll see.

Happened to have this piano black Voodoo knob laying around as a spare for my Miata. Amazed that it was the same thread pitch. Much better looking than the scritched up stocker.

Bought the knob from a guy on here. I've painted it a few times since I've had it. It's just your standard weighted knob.

uploadfromtaptalk1439737406717.png currently mine. Picture is from a different care but it's on my ms6. Love it. Almost double the weight of stock, very comfy to hold. Only thing I don't like is it gets super hot if the sun is beating on it and very cold when it's cold

Beer can coozie makes wonderful insulator.
Ill grab a pic but i made mine from a 2" ball bearing. Bored it with a 3/4" end-mill, and made an insert for the threads. Painted it but need to repaint.

That might be a good idea. Slap it on every time I leave the car. Thanks

Mini-revival.

It's a bit on the large side, but that's not an issue unless you have girlie hands. Women love it as well.

I haven't posted in general in quite some time, but things have changed with my plans for this car anyway. Figured since I've recently "upgraded" something, I'd post some thoughts.

Swapped out my JBR Shift Knob (absolutely awesome shift knob, btw. Leagues different than the stock knob and has a significant leg up on the competition in terms of feel and aesthetics, in my opinion) to a new Ashiko 735 gram Shift Knob with an engraved shift pattern made from a company called Raceseng. I've had it for about 2 1/2 weeks now, and while it's not a transformational difference from when I went from stock to the JBR, it's still a solid leap in shift feel and ergonomics.

As you can imagine, this thing turns into a brick of ice when the weather outside is frightful LOL, but thankfully being made out of 303 Stainless steel, it warms up to your body temperature fairly quick.

I think it adds an elegant visual flair to the cabin while offering great shift feel and significantly reduced effort.

Raceseng doesn't offer any other products outside of shift knobs and license plate holders for the Mazda platform, but still worth a look as there are other shift knobs they make as well.

Ummmmm Not really. The comparable knob from TMW would be the Big Type R Shift Knob (Stainless Steel , Pattern 3) which is $151.85 after shipping.. I just paid $135 shipped for that same Raceseng knob.

Well if you choose not to splurge and get the raceseng knob with a finish, then yes, the cost will be lower. In that regards both brands are way overpriced.

Got this knob for free from a buddy that drives a wrx. No idea what brand or how much it costs. It sits slightly higher than stock but I ended up with smother shifts. The top edge is pretty sharp actually but nothing I can't get used to. Required a thread adapter I was able to get from ebay for like 8 bucks shipped.

Edit: didn't like the look of the boot with a zip tie so I bought a chrome washer to superglue onto the plastic ring so it looks mostly legit, this is how much higher it sits over stock, shifts feel so much smother and the increase in throw distance feels minimal. Gonna pair well with a SSP.

It would look better if you got a stack of wider washers and stacked them on the plastic ring under the boot, plus one on top of the boot. Use enough washers so that the adapter base clamps it all down when tightened. You can see an example of the washer size I'm talking about under my knob here:
