Default End the season with three 12.0s

Last day of the season at our not so local track ...street tires all day everyday

And this was a solo pass and my best shifting but looking for extra time I dumped the clutch too fast and paid for it

That's it for this year the other tracks aren't going to give up better times . So next will be taller and wider nt05 and boss manifold and new goal 11.7-11.9 @ 117

P.s. 3rd run was a 12.1 ... 5th 6th thevtrack was gone and I was trying way agressive launches and flopped

Finished 99 timeslips since March

I know people get stuck on 10.99 ... 11.99 etc and a few people told me yesterday ..." Aww sucks U didn't get the 11.99 " .... But reality is that the 11.99 was a mark to hit as progress so I left the track yesterday happy as shit cause after 99 timeslip I knocked off 9/10ths with only 25 more hp and consistently went quicker every track day as I tweaked the car and my driving . Leaps and bounds are for people with money and no understanding what drag racing is about . My ultimate goal is an 11.5 street tire daily (11.49 and cage time so fuck cages )

Good stuff Rodrigo! The idea is to progress towards a goal, setting markers along the way.

I know I'm arrogant and egotistical but that's why I'm always faster every next track day cause I worry about improving not "breaking records " focus on bettering your last timeslip and this forum woulda had a dozen ten second speed3/6 already

That is awfully impressive on street tires. Do you have plans to get some drag radials?

The couple times I've gone out with my c5z I had a lot of trouble getting out of the hole on street tires (awful ones), very different than launching the MS6. Kudos to you for making it look simple.

This is my daily driver and I'm selling my back up car so I need to be smart and have fun at a low risk of parts failure . Slicks and launching at 7k by dumping the clutch brakes shit eventually and I can't afford that , drag radials won't last me a year so that means 1200-1500 bucks on tires yearly ... Fuck that . My next plan is this

305/35/19 NTO5 (not dr )
Boss manifold
Lakewood 90/10 struts
Divorcing the clutch reservoir and putting dot 4

I am hoping with that I will cut low 1.7s and get another 2 mph so I can shoot for 11.7s @ 117

Nicely done! Congrats on the runs.

My brother just bought 19x10 track wheels for the rear with 305 NT05r's. He is also looking to get the cobra jet intake mani and throttle body. Makes me have the itch to sell the mazda and pick up one. Love his track pack

71-7200 2-3 and 3-4 .... 1-2 around 6500 if I get too close to 7k it locks out

I picked up 1 mph from shifting 71-72 vs 67-6900

Ya I should be hitting 11.7s with the boss , bigger street tires and 90/10s .... I'm just having fun without risking my driveline . With slicks I'm sure I could drop high 1.5s and click 11.6 as is but not gonna risk my daily ... I'll be a little slower but just as challenging

I wanted the nt05r but reality is they won't last a year so with 15k anual miles I'll settle for nt05 and work on low 1.7s

plus side to running on street tires is that you know exactly what to expect on the street when something interesting pulls up at the light

Going to be doing some testing with the stock I/M this weekend to see how it stacks up to the Boss for drag racing. I never ran a tune with the stock I/M. And I just wanted to have a starting point for shifting

While it's common knowledge that the boss drops tq down low what I look at when I see the dynos is simple

from 4500 to 7500 rpm the boss is superior ... And in drag racing me on street tires I launch at 4-4200 rpm and anyone with a tire even higher .... The shifts and our RPM life in a drag race is very limited ... I don't think we see more than 2500 rpm from bottom to top of a gear and that boss graph is a flat hp line for at least 1500 .... That to me is the reason why the boss ultimately will always trap higher , the power holds at peak for longer

We shall see, I've had a couple of my buddies have good results with going back to the stock manifold. I'm very consistent 1.65/11.53-5; it should be really apparent if there is any +/-. I will let what happens at the track guide me.

I'm just trying to go step by step and make sure I'm going in the right direction. And I'll post results, good or bad

Congrats again Rod. 11s are right there. Can't wait to see some passes on something other than the stockers!

Skip the long tubes. At least from what I've seen. They are a huge PITA, and the gains seem minimal if at all. On my buddies 5.0 he went from 115-116trap to 119 with the boss manifold and retune. Then he added the long tubes and picked up nothing at the track.

I agree with this, the gains are minimal. You will see better gains switching to o/r x-pipe. I'd save l/t for last. If you do them, it's easier if your drop the k-member.

I wish this were true for the 15s, there is a cat on the drivers side header that limits the power.

I haven't played with any 15's yet. That was just my experience with the generation 5.0 Rodrigo has.

Long tubes will vary from 10 to 20whp ... Problem is that unlike ms3 we have PLENTY to choose from . You put on a set of Kooks long tubes and U will pick up some mph

I personally don't have a desire to do a 6 hr or 8 hr install so fuck headers plus kooks and a short x pipe would be 1500 too much for me

The boss is 500 new (I don't buy used parts ) and takes 1 hr to swap so it's worth trying to see if I can eek out 2 more mph

Bryce im not switching from street tires , I do this for the fun and challenge of bettering myself ... My cap is 11.5 because at 11.49 I get flagged and I go too often to the track not to get flagged immediately

I believe I can have an 11.50 mustsng on street tires with my dedication and attention to detail

In a perfect world I wouldn't care about breaking and would already sprayed 100 shot on slicks and have gone 10.6-10.7s but I live in reality world and its fu of financial compromises

Daily driver never down > race car

That's how I live now

I hear you about being a street car, I know I could go even faster. But, I've concentrated on reliable performance.

Nice runs. It's good to see you constantly trying to dial the car in; that's what gets you great times. Driver is the most important part, mods can only do so much. Props.

That is also something that I have changed my mind on . Originally I was going to run the 305/35/19 nt05r ($240 a pop) but after doing some math and seeing that my re-11 will probably last 20k miles and me putting 15k miles a year I realize that it means the nt05r wouldn't last me even 1 year ... I can't do that , I'm a single dad ... One Income I pay for everything so I need to make compromises

Hence 305/35/19 NT05 $280 a pop .... The extra height and width with a meatier sidewall hopefully gives up low 1.7s maybe even high 1.6s .... I have always had the ability to cut low 60s so I'm running with that and accepting that this is my street car and just do the best I can .

It's not that easy to control my spending when all I want to do is show how quick a car can be with proper tire and driving but the thought of breaking or going broke $ scares me so this is how far im willing to gamble

This is how you make a serious attempt at being quick with what U got . 99 passes since March .

I thought I was done but the shitty local track is open dec 7 abd 14 and for the data I might get about how colder temps affect my cars mph I may go make a dozen more passes not sure yet lol

Yes I love drag racing more than I could explain
