Default Running on Road America soon... Any recommendations for me?

I moved to Milwaukee so I'm going to be hitting up Road America with my 08 Speed3 on their next open track day. I already have a few things in mind for the car: Check/resurface rotors & pads and bleed the brakes. I guess I'm looking for advice on... Tire pressure, specific tools/things you think I should bring, etc. Its a BIG track so I should be approaching around 140mph on the 2 straights. If that brings any added advice, I'm happy to take it. Also, I have new Falken Azenis RT615's so I'm good on tread life there. I'm hoping to do 6-10 laps so I wasn't planning on bringing extra rotors, pads or an oil change... I think that about covers it. Let me know what you guys think!!

My buddy ran it in his SpeedMiata last year...biggest tip was do not underestimate the sweeping corners. It's a goal of mine to make the trip from Madison to lap it but I don't know if that'll happen this summer or not.

Hi there,

I have had both an 08 and an 11 MS3 and ran them at Road America. I would suggest you get a good track pad or at least Hawk HP+, and also a higher temp brake fluid, especially if it has never been completely flushed out. The track is very tough on brakes!
As for what to bring, your basic tool kit, tire pressure gauge, sun screen, long pants, SA2010 or newer helmet. We rent helmets at track if you come to RA Track Day.
Feel free to look me up when you are there as I work at the track.

Later,

Enrique

^^^ What he said.

I would also monitor the brake temps if possible. My OEM front caliper literally fell apart at RA my last time I was there. The heat had cracked the piston and warped the pad. I believe the guide pins were also seized/warped. I was using Hawk HP+, high temp fluids, but the caliper itself was not up to snuff on my stock MS3. Luckily I made it home and sourced an OEM caliper off of this site.

Granted, that was after my third summer at RA, and some other tracks in the Midwest, so they were properly abused by that point, but I always maintained the caliper.

So whether a fluke or not, keep on eye on them if possible. Have fun, RA is an absolutely blast, and watch out of the Kink
