(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Had a great weekend at Sonoma! Fully bolted, adjustable suspension, etc. Recently upgraded to CST4, tuned conservatively by Nishan. Power to weight only slightly behind '16 black edition GT-R, Ariel Atom and M4. We all ran Toyo R888R. GTR was on Advan GT with 325/30's in the rear, my Speed3 ran Volk GT-P 17x9 255/40's all around. Consistent low 2:00 laps with traffic and 90* ambient temps. I was running the fastest in my class. The Toyo performed excellent imo. Servicing some parts currently, more days to come. Enjoy! https://sharplitemedia.smugmug.com/S...y-08162019/12/ |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Hey MSF! Finally got around to going through some old track day pic.s. Here's some good one's from Laguna summer '14. Heavily attended event with lots of traffic, all kinds of cars. Audi R8 was so fast, he could pass without me lifting off throttle. Completely different set-up from my current. SSR GTV-01 18x8.5 +44 with Dunlop Sport Maxx RT 245/40, Hawk HPS fr/rr, braided lines and fluid, etc. E-tune by Nishan. Only took 4-5 laps for the tires to overheat and get greasy. Brakes were solid. I remember having a great time that day, enjoy! |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Heading back to Sonoma 11/09 with SpeedSF. Quick once over, ARP front studs, Kics 10mm front spacers, Kics lugs, new custom track alignment (-2.7 front, -2.1 rear) and Hawk PC rear pads. If any members are around, feel free to come say hello. More than happy to give a ride along. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Hey MSF! Found a legendary set of used SSR Type-C's for sale at a great price. Came across some positive feedback on the ADVAN V601 and if it's anything like their A052 compound I should be very pleased. Great price point too imo. 18x8.5 +42 wrapped in ADVAN V601 245/40's tip the scales at 42.86 lbs. Huge upgrade over my previous aftermarket daily wheel and could potentially serve as a wet track day option. Enjoy! |

For your daily tires, I wonder how the new Yoko Advance V601 tires compare to Yoko’s extreme performance summer class Advan Neova AD-08R tires. I have been very impressed with the latter. I ran them at stock size on stock rims, though. Very sticky compound that had longer tread life than I expected.

From what I understand, the new silica compound Advan created is incredible. Their A052 200tw tire performs at / or greater than a comparable 100tw or less tire like the R888R. If you're into jdm / usdm time attack, then you've seen what this tire can do and if not, I highly suggest you do a few searches. I'd guess the V601 dry performance to be less than the A052 but "relative" to the AD08 at 280tw. I expect it to outperform them both in the rain. Most reviews put it up against the PS4s. | |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I think you are right that the V601 may do a bit better in wet driving than 200tw Extreme Performance class tires like the A052 and AD08R that give up a little in the wet for better dry traction. I ran AD08 before the revised compound AD-08R and then switched to the latter come replacement time. The AD08R has slightly better wet grip without sacrificing almost race tire dry grip. From what I can tell, the A052 is even better than the AD08R and may now be the best near race tire suitable for street use. For your purposes the V601 sounds perfect. Yoko Advan series are great under appreciated tires.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score The owner / main engineer of the garage who services / preps my cars is a regular for WTAC pit crew. He's a very approachable and friendly guy, so we get to talk shop when I come around. On multiple occasions, he's stressed the merits of ADVAN's new compound and its performance over the competition. From what I remember, the performance degradation is extremely gradual to non-existent on the A052 after repeated heat cycles and are predictable / almost "fool-proof" at their limit. I'll definitely share my impressions of the V601 as I put miles on them, I do hope to get a wet day or two on them as well. Last edited by Federighi; 11-05-2019 at 07:47 PM. Reason: poor grammar |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Hey MSF! Awesome day at Sonoma! Cold and foggy early but cleared around 10am and settled mid 70's. My paddock neighbor was super cool and one heck of a driver (#60) , total blast to chase down. Seriously tons of fun running down full track cars and earning the pass (couldn't find the e36). R888R's still holding up well, although grip / response wasn't what they were new. Hope to get at least one more day out of them. Ran 158.2 with passenger and full interior. Here's a few shots my wife was able to capture from the grandstands and I'll put up the SpeedSF pic.s up when they become available. Enjoy! Last edited by Federighi; 12-31-2019 at 04:17 PM.
