Default Disappearing oil

Buddy of mine just picked up an 03 msp.
Says it's going through a long oil.
I did a compression test for him this weekend and all 4 cylinders were between 205 and 210.
Checked all the charge piping AFTER the side mount, and they were all pristine. Even the valve cover vent was clean.
He says he's found a decent amount of oil in the intercooler before, but none of the cold pipe had even a hint of oil in them.
He also has a $1300 receipt for a brand new turbo. I'm not saying it CAN'T be the new turbo, but I'm wondering of there is a more common issue for you guys.

Yeah, there definitely is a tranny fluid leak. Needs an axle seal, but nothing from the crank case.

if the turbo isn't oem then he needs an oil restrictor.

the stock 2554r has a restrictor built in.

Did he try popping the car on the nose and saying "NO! No more eating oil!" while shaking his head and waving a finger? I'd try that.

Where is the leak on the trans? If his clutch is slipping, on possibly not, it could be a rear main seal.

Could be a valve seal or two.

He hasn't mentioned anything about a slipping clutch.
It's definitely tranny fluid that's leaking, and it seems concentrated around the axle seal.
I'll have a look at those cam seals Raider, and I'll also check to make sure that it's the oem turbo.

Valve seals like to go bad in the fs-de, and since the turbo had been replace i'd check the the feed and drain. If the PO replaced cam seals i would definitely check them. I replaced them 3 or 4 times on my old msp because those fuckers would not seal no matter how i installed them.

I had this issue on one of my Mazda6 motors. It turns out the valve guides were worn and the motor would consume oil without any signs other then the oil level dropping on the dipstick. it was such a tiny bit of oil consumed steadily that after 1000km, I would be about a litre low.

I don't know what kind of oil is in the motor now but maybe try some cheap dyno oil and see if that stays in the motor.

He's saying it's going through a litre every 2-300 kms.
I've got him on a spread sheet now to accurately monitor consumption.
He's contacted the original owner to see if the head has ever been off/machined, since compression was abnormally high.

Its going through that much oil and there are no visual signs? No smoke, no specs of oil on the ground, no leaks on the motor? Tell him to try some high rpm engine breaking (4-5k in second) and see if he gets any smoke. Does his car have both factory cats?

Yes. Both cats. Likely masking a lot of smoke.

Have you changed out your PCV valve.. I've had one go bad and go through 2 quarts within 3k miles. Thank god i check my oil. I'm not on here much but if you want to ask me any questions Raider knows how to get ahold of me.

Generally the FSDE's like to smoke on start up and then clear up when upto temp after setting for awhile.

Not yet. I have to be honest, I'm not focusing much effort to it.
He just keeps adding oil.
