Default Transmission issues

Hello guys my name is Cody I just recently acquired a 2003 msp. The story goes like this my friend called me and said he needed a little help with his car he said it was making a grinding sound after he puts it into gear and tries to accellerate after letting the clutch out so he wanted a clutch Put in so I installed a spec stage 2 clutch and he had a bad cv shaft so I took care of that thinking that was the problem well we have come to the conclusion it's internally in the trans. He needed a car I had a vehicle he was interested in so we traded. This is where I am asking you guys for help I knOw nothing about mazdas and I'm thinking I'm in need of new LSD or total rebuild. Where can I find these parts I've been able to locate a LSD (wow they aren't cheap) but not a rebuild kit and what is the trans model Code or am I chasing a different problem here total newb to mazdas I'm admitting this now lol but I am willing to listen and learn. Thank you for your help I greatly appreciate it
