Default blown engine...

so here it is, zoom zoom boom. Doing 40km/h in a school zone, big "POW", got to the garage and apparently a connecting rod went through the bottom of the engine block. garage says there was enough and correct amount of oil....

had issues with the car about a month ago. Didnt start, then change battery spark plug so on...

Mazda says I have to provide all the oil change receipts. i bought the car used about a year ago. Car has currently 40k km on it.

My question to you guys : Since I bought the car used from a dealership, i shouldnt have to provide oil changes from the former owner, should I ?????

If so, I'm kinda screwed

Return to stock before you take it to dealer. Especially the stock tune.

I was told I'd need oil change receipts from previous owner to validate warranty coverage at Ontario Mazda.

Good luck.
If you get past the oil change receipt ordeal (Mazda will have record of all oil changes done at any dealer anyway), and the try to say you mods caused the problem, make sure you get them to prove it, and get it in writing, and signed by the service manager and then take it to a real shop for a proper diagnosis. Get their's in writing and slap Mazda in the face with it.
They CANNOT void your warranty for mods that DO NOT cause the issue at hand.
Hopefully you have some sort of monitoring/logging device that could have shown all your vitals to be in check while the car was running.

So I just noticed that the garage put in 5w20 ...... would that be enough to blow the engine up?

Wrong oil (5-30 per manual). If you donate for VIP access, a guy is selling stock MS6 intake for $10 plus shipping. BPV can be found cheap too. I would sell you mine, but it is on loan for a guy getting warranty work here.

Donate, and here is the guy's FS thread for the intake.
http://www.mazdaspeedforum.org/forum/foru...x-20-a-103161/

Dealers can be dicks and demand proof since ownership. You can go to carfax and see if the PO had the dealer service, it will show (even if dealer says no proof seen).

Stock out before you go in, and since the wrong oil is in there, pray they do not send it for analysis.

I'm dealing with Sundance Mazda. They told me that they have to inspect the damage first. the car will get towed there later on today.

I'll update the thread as soon as I can.

Cause a rod to get thrown thru the block? Hydrolock, locked up bearing, as someone else mentioned, too much load, if it was cyl 3, that one is known to be a little leaner than the other cylinders due to better IM flow thru that runner, could be a number of reasons. Just because you "had enough oil" in there according to the shop doesn't mean anything.

If you took it in modded at all, prepare to be raped by voided warranty over bullshit excuses. Sucks, as for $40, essentially, you could have the stock parts. If voided over the mods, the new motor will be thousands.

LOL if you didn't stock out, you're screwed. Your warranty will be denied whether you have oil change receipts or not.

And whatever caused you to blow could have occurred weeks ago. You could have bent a rod with a det event, over-revving, or whatever, and it just blew today. However, the wrong oil probably contributed.

Either way, with all those mods still on the car, you're stuck. Sorry.

40kmh = 25 mph, in third gear. Did you stomp on it in a school zone? Mind boggling.

yea, especially the BPV. they will somehow convince you that you "increased the boost" with it.

get it stock, then get it fixed.

I had my fully back to stock but they could tell things had been swapped out. The only saving grace I had was that all the OEM parts were there to go back on and the car had been to that dealership for inspection less than 6 months ago. So in the end, they had little proof to argue otherwise. They event went so far as to send detailed pics to Mazda for approval. Good luck man, you will need it for sure.
