Default I got the dealership blues...

I ended up taking the MS6 to the dealership today for the low rpm surging during acceleration it was doing. Thread here: Acceleration problems I took the car in and they called me back saying they couldn't find the problem I was talking about. They called me back to take the car for a spin with the tech riding shotgun and the car surged like usual. So off they went again to diagnose the problem. I get a phone call later saying that they still couldn't find the source of the problem, the ECU hasn't thrown any CEL codes and was everything running correctly. They pulled out the intake card saying that it was the source of the problem because it was "sucking too much air" and they wanted me to put the stock intake back to further diagnose, which I don't have. I've had the intake for about a year already and it started doing this about a month ago. They said that due to the cold weather we've been having, it could be a factor because colder air is denser. I take that into consideration saying the car never did it during the summer and this has been the coldest winter in a while (25-40 F). I'm not going to jump into conclusions, but it's a possibility for me. With my luck, the dealership voided my warranty. Funny because a dealership in CA replaced my VVT when my engine was knocking under it. Go Mazda.

So for the people that live up north with CAI: Have you experienced this? What some other things I can look at? .02$ anyone?

I took the car to a different dealership this time. Still had my warranty, so I said, why not? The tech a whole lot better. They told me it was an O2 sensor problem. Car never threw any CELs, either. Just putting that out there if anyone runs into something like this.

good for you, getting a good tech is key, if they suck then it's all bad. You did the right thing going to a new dealer. Always post here first because everyone would have told you the dealer's response about too much air, go back to stock airbox etc was all complete BS.

Hmm...I had posted a thread regarding this with my car, only it was a hesitation, not a surge. Techline said it was the o2 sensor, then called the tech back and claimed the MAF sensor should be changed first instead before hand. I'm thinking if this keeps up when it gets warmer, i'm going back to have the o2 sensor changed. Hm..
