Default P0421
so i have been getting this code lately, not sure exactly why, i know my maf has gotten wet a couple times from slush and what not, i have a SURE SRI on the way bc i'm tired of dealing with this CAI, so once i get it i'm gonna clean the maf and no more worries about water, but i doubt this has to do with it. its the cat warmup efficiency below threshhold, or something like that, anybody have any ideas?

also, there has been a burning smell lately, and the car has been smoking if im stopped for a short amount of time, it has always smoked a lil but only after bing stopped for a longgg time, like 5-10 minutes, so is the cat in the down pipe shot?

i also have the p0401 code which looks to be like the egr is stuck open? can any one in the know chime in on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Can you elaborate as to why you think this has something to do with your EGR? I'm not sure I follow that...

From my experience the P0421 is most commonly, if not always attributable to a bad primary catalyst.

yeah i know that, but i have both trouble codes and the p0401 is usually q clogged egr tube from what i read on here, i think i pretty much found my answer by searching that i have to either clean the egr tube or block it off, im hoping i dont need a new cat though. just was looking for peoples past experiences.

I threw the same code today after i gutted my dp and 2nd cat lol..cleared it with the hypertech. Car runs dumb hard now btw

had that code, did a search, and did the egr cleaning procedure. really it's part of normal
maintenance.
