Default traction control light on....

i had some issues with my pcm getting wet awhile back, i got the car fixed and when i got it back the traction control light was on. i asked them why and the mechanic told me it was because i had over boost. any thoughts on this? i dont understand why the traction control system would be affected by this there are no CELs just the traction light.

help me.

i'd try a different, non-retarded mechanic.

I would check the ABS wheel speed sensor connections. Maybe one jarred loose. Or was pulled off somehow during the work they did. Your ecu is in the engine bay so if it was getting wet I wonder if they removed the splash guard or something and maybe caught the plug and pulled it out a bit.

Also...a shot in the dark but very possible. Check your switches on the brake pedal. Make sure the plugs and wires are secure and not damaged. And check to make sure you have all your brake lights working. And check the plugs for those lights and wires.

Don't ask why but it has to do with system failsafes how they are kinda tied into each other. I haven't looked at the circuit on your car but its probably setup similar to every other car.

Where exactly is the ecu in the engine bay?
I'm going to check the connectors on:
-ECU
-Wheel speed sensor
-Brake lights
Thank you for the info.

low brake fluid and very low brake pads can cause this issue aswell

i dont know if this happens on our cars as well but... i know on the miatas and rx8's when the batter is unhooked for extended periods you have to "reset" the traction control system, try turning the wheel from lock to lock then centered again, all with the ignition on but vehicle off.... then start the car

Don't qoute me and someone correct me if I'm wrong. But I believe the speeds have the ecu near the driverside strut tower.

Default Pulled the ECU

Disconnected the ECU and re-tested the system... the fuse did not blow!
I've removed the ECU and cleaned all the connectors with electrical contact cleaner.
It's drying right now. I'll be putting it back together soon.
I'm going to connect one sensor at a time and re-test along the way.
Hopefully this solves the blown fuse problem.

Thanks again for the assistance guys.
Will post with results.

Any updates with this? I've been having a similar problem cropping up with my speed 6 and the connectors seem fine.

If the brake fluid is low the brake light indicator in the dash comes on. Why would traction control light come on?
