Wanna assemble a computer

Guys I want to assemble a customized unbranded commputere...I know the processor should be Intel....but Asus parts are good but not so much very known....cud someone give me some advice on Asus performance

Actually the performance to price ratio is FAR better with an AMD system and ASUS is one of the most well known PC part manufacturers around. I only use ASUS boards when building systems.

Go to newegg.com and look for parts that have these features:

AMD processor (AM3 Socket)

DDR3 RAM (4GB Minimum, 1333Mhz speed, G.Skill brand)

AM3 Socket Mother Board (Full ATX size, make sure it supports DDR3 memory and the speed of memory you pick and has USB3.0 and SATA 6gb/s if you want the newest features)

Nvidia graphics card (400gtx or 500gtx line, 460gtx is the best price:performance ratio)

I would suggest at least a 600W power supply (a good one in the power range will cost around $60 if not more, if you get a cheap Power Supply Unit you can destroy your system)

Then obviously the hard drive, case, and disk drive are all pretty much the same. My advice is to get a case that can hold plenty of fans and fill all available spot with fans if the case doesnt come with them because excessive heat is the worst thing a computer can run into. Also a midtower size case should be fine, dont go smaller because you wont be able to fit everything in there. If you go bigger (to a fulltower) then you are wasting money. most people will do fine with a 320gb hard drive and a regular DVD burner.

If you insist on going with an Intel system I would wait until the new Sandy Bridge line of processors come out (which should be any day now) because they are going to be the most powerful. But Im telling you, an Intel system will cost you anywhere from $200-$600 more than an AMD system depending on what parts you want.

i would get AMD as well and run RAID on ur hard drives.. Most likely a RAID 0, and try if you have the money to have an SLI enabled motherboard and run SLI video cards....

AMD's CPUs arent that stellar at the moment. That will change in Q2 of this year.

Pick up a Intel 870 unlocked processor. As far as main board goes, that all depends on budget.

Give me your total amount and ill show you what you should build. Also, you doing any type of gaming? Whats its general purpose. All of the AMD boards suck by the way. They really have very little in the means of enthusiast boards at the moment.

There are combos out there that have the CPU/board/ram all together. only thing next to get would be tower, dvd drive, and hard drive.

Asus is good, im on thier gaming laptop now browsing etc. ASrock is board i had my first piece together. Processor could be either intel or AMD. but if you get a board combo, that will take care most of the hard work. get a quad core cpu. if you plan on gaming then u will need a video card. good ones out there cheap.

Go to Pricewatch.com or Newegg.com. i go there all the time. you will see the option for combos.

some general points...

amd processor = ati graphics card

intel processor = nvidia graphics card

although any setup can work well, benchmarks have shown that these specific setups yield better performances.

personally i like the intel/ati setup...benchmarks are out the roof

as for Asus, ive got a intel 920 w/ a asus mobo. Works fantastic. Asus makes good shit as I have a 24.2 inch monitor by them as well

If your really serious about gaming or wanna do so nasty video editing, you can even go w/ a dual graphics card setup. but any mid priced card should get you a long way today.

Your mobo is one of the most important things tho. Make sure it caters to your processor's performance. Dont make the mistake and get an overpowered mobo and a cheapo processor and vice versa.

As far as everything else is concerned the next important thing is your case and power supply. Always try to find the best case to suit your needs. A roomy case w/ good performing quiet fans is best so you can optimize airflow.

Follow these guide lines and u can build a nice computer in the 500 dollar range on up...

your best bet is to never buy anything on the cutting edge, and never go with the cheapest stuff. fall somewhere in between. brand isn't super important, as all mfg's release turds sometimes, and no mobo gets perfect reviews.
buy a mobo that has all of the features you want and maybe then some so that it's at least 5 year proof, and by that i mean get something that can take 32gb of ram, a faster CPU later, usb3.0, etc. newegg reviews are your friend.
