Does anyone know how to correctly align the VVT on the intake cam if not indexed prior to separation?

Good thread! Hate to be a nit picker but I've been taught that when using a torque wrench for something as critical as engine internals you should minimize extension use and if at all possible not use one at all as the extensions can flex. Now how much this is or if it honestly makes a difference, I don't know, but I'll stick to it for peace of mind.

I'm gonna say that's a myth. I work on some extremely sensitive things at work. All our torque wrenches are calibrated within +/- 5%, and we have step by step tech data. I've never come across a step that has a calculation or anything for flex in an extension. Now if that extension alters the angle at which you are torquing (a crows foot would be an example as you are no longer torquing at a 90° angle and essentially making the torque wrench longer) then there is a whole formula you use for that

Bump for an awesome thread!~ This will help me a ton over the next month as I reassemble my long block after going ZZB last week. I feel way more confident completing this myself now. Much appreciated.

It's bad form to necro-bump. Better to start a new thread, and mention this one as you give thanks.

But then, brownies gonna brown, noobs gonna noob.

If you are trying to subscribe to the thread to save for later you can do that too easily.

If everyone started a new thread, mentioning another one, just to say thanks. We'd have a ton of 2 post threads for nothing.

well as a matter of fact, yes. Think of it like busting into someones house 3 days (or two years) after a party is over to try and join in on the fun, or in your case say "what a great party". You end up looking like an....well as TiGray said, its just bad form. Add to that it was your 1st post.

What you can sometimes get away with is to ask a pertinent question, related to the thread, that was not covered previously AND would benefit not only you but the entire community.

Even then you'll likely get chastised somewhat and just have to take the heat like a man.

This forum is not like any other...we have high standards that must be adhered to.

Awesome how to spin a bearing yesterday so either swapping out bearings or doing a build, I've heard that using arp main studs isn't possible without balance shaft delete, is it something I should do?

The only other way around it is to cut the bottom of the studs so they don't protrude into the balance shaft, or run OEM
