| Not Ranked : 0 score That may be b/c SU bought all of the initial production and they won't have any to sell until they get back from SEMA and assemble some more units. Quite a coup by SU, if so.

Cobb messed up on this one trying to get an injection molder to run the air straigtner right. Seems like an easy peace to make once you have the mold in the machine but it might be the mold itself thats fucked up. If thats the case then they are going to lose alot of money while people pick up the cp-e.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I'm really sorry for all of the confusion guys! We sent out a pallet of Nano's to SU yesterday, as they had an exclusive to the first batch of units. We have more Nanos to assemble, so when we return from SEMA on Monday we'll be putting more together. We should also have the Nano up on the website today so people can place an order direct if they wish. So SU should be receiving their allotment shortly, and I believe direct orders will ship once we return from SEMA on Monday. I hope that helps! |

Possibly oil contaminated air dumping onto the MAF sensor, I would think that may not be the best idea!? Am I missing something.

| Not Ranked : 0 score there are two different schools of thought: 1. take the option that filters best: dry filters sift out fine dirt particles better than oiled filters. bob the oil guy has shown that dry filters do a far better job than oiled filters at removing fine dirt particles: Air Filtration Test basically, the rationale is that your air filter is there for one purpose: getting rid of dirt. get the option that does this job the best. 2. take the option that filters dirt well enough, but flows better. oiled filters flow better than dry filters. here's a comparison straight from AEM: basically, as long as you don't let the filter get too dirty, the oiled filter will outflow the dry filter. here's my take on things: yes, it's nice to have the air cleaned up as much as possible when it goes into the engine, but let's not forget that the air isn't going into a clean room here. it's going into a chamber where gasoline is being sprayed, ignited, and blown the hell up! yes, you can make some pretty pictures that show that a dry filter keeps the fine dirt particles out better. yes, the difference in filtering power can definitely be seen when put side by side. but shit, man...this is still an irrelevant amount if you consider the fact that bob did that test over 500 miles! even though that extra dirt looks pretty impressive on that little piece of filter when placed side by side, the fact of the matter is that that same dirt would have just gotten shoved into the engine cylinder and then blown the hell up before getting pissed out the exhaust at insane pressures and temperatures. who the hell cares if a little bit of fine dust is in the air? compare that with the soot that is created upon combustion of the engine, and it's really pretty much the least of your worries. the main purpose an air filter needs to satisfy is merely to remove the dangerous large dirt particles. if a little bit of fine dust gets into the intake, it's hardly something to get panicky about. as such, i run an oiled filter on my SRI and just make sure to clean it properly when it starts looking dirty. it's not a lot of trouble, and it gets the job done well. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Can't hurt to add that you want to be careful not to over-oil it when you clean it. We've had people say, yes, they did do this and, yes, it did f/u the MAF. So follow the instructions and everything should be AOK.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Depends what you mean by better. Filtering efficiency and flow restriction are related. Higher filtering efficiency gives more flow restriction. A larger filter of the same efficiency gives less restriction. More flow (cfm) on any filter gives more restriction, in terms of inches of water. It is finding the right balance. There is a good independent test here, the best I have found: ISO 5011 Duramax Air Filter Test Report Just remember this. If one filter removes 99.9% of dust and one removes 96% of dust , doesnt sound like much right? WRONG. You have to think about how much dirt is getting through. One lets through 0.1% one lets through 4% 4 divided by 0.1 = 400 times more dirt getting in with the 96% filter To put that in percentage terms 40000% more dirt getting into the engine with the 96% filter versus the 99.9% Let me put it another way lets say over the course of a few years your filter encounters 100g of dust, one filter would let 0.1g (0.025g per cylinder, a speck) the other would let in 4g (1g of grit per cylinder), would you pull your plugs and pour 1g of dirt in each cylinder?? Not me It doesnt take much dust to ruin an engine, that is why OEM filters are so good at filtering, you dont see many K&N's coming as standard equipment. Personally I'll stick with the biggest (to lower restriction), best filtering (to reduce dust ingress) filter I can find. It is always filtering efficiency vs restriction. Go with a filter that is as efficient as stock at getting out the dirt, and put on the biggest one you can fit to get the lowest restriction. Makes me laugh when I read guys changing their oil every 3000 miles but they are running a K&N I believe the cp-e wet filter is the synthetic media, they are supposed to filter better, I havent see the data. Jordan? I believe was talking about showing some data comparing the wet and dry but I havent seen it posted yet You can read more good filtering stuff here: TheDieselStop.Com Forums: TYMAR CFM ? Dale I ? BMW E34 Website I did some calculations yesterday and (unless I screwed up somewhere) I figure our engine pumps around 700 CFM at redline.

| Not Ranked : 0 score So from what it seems, AEM has the highest filtration? But the flow decreases as it gets dirty, but it takes longer for it to flow less as it gets dirty, compared to K&N? AFE doesn't look too hot on that chart. I may end up getting an AEM filter after all.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Absent any other data, All the data I have seen show dry filters filter way better, I would go dry, and put the biggest one that would fit in the space available. Im thinking the best solution really is a CAI with a huge filter because there is more space down below the engine compartment, even if you have to trim the metal pipe to make it fit. The 9" AEM filter "Coming soon" looks the ticket..... I wonder if it would fit on the CP-E nano tubing in the engine compartment?? If not a good CAI (cp-e, mazdaspeed w A/S, AEM) trimmed to fit the 9" filter...... Just my take coming from the powerstroke diesel world. Really I would like to see the data the Jordan said he had the proved the wet filters they use are better

A) Good filtration= no dust B) Large surface area filter= less restriction C) Clean filter=less restriction D) All of the above=happy engine

I dont see it in what I posted. EDIT: OK, now I see it in Sacrilicious's post. What I would say is this, all the filters are very similar in flow until the have accumulated about 60g of dust, that is a fair bit of dust IMO. Unless you are operating in a very dusty environment, you should be cleaning or changing your filter before that becomes a factor. In other words unless you are negligent in cleaning, the restriction difference will be small but the filtering difference will be huge.

| Not Ranked : 0 score An interesting point that I didnt specifically point out in my long filtering post was the difference in filtering and restriction between the best and worst. The AC Delco filter filters approx 4500% better than the K@N The AC Delco has approx 37% more restriction than the K@N So you are gaining a little power by losing 37% restriction, but losing engine longevity by pumping 4500% more dust through the engine. Why not just use a bigger filter to lose the restriction, but keep the filtration efficiency as good as stock??

| Not Ranked : 0 score Quick question, anyone know a good filter that would fit the cpe nano that is a dry flow and that has a larger cone than the one that comes with it, so I would get a larger surface area? Or, would a larger cone not fit and cause problems? Thanks |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Well just measure the filter's diameter, then measure how much space you have length-wise as to how big of a filter AEM may offer that you want to fit? I doubt they really did extensive research into what size filter would be appropriate.

| Not Ranked : 0 score No doubt they're just using the AFE they've been using all along. There are a lot of good filters out there in all sorts of shapes. Someone who goes to the trouble of finding the biggest one that will fit in the space without interfering or being interfered with will do us all a service. Once the included filter has run a cycle or two I might just dump it for something more optimal.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I'm almost contemplating asking CP-E how much their setup would cost minus their filter? I'm only going to replace it with an AEM. Or I could buy the Nano and sell the filter on here as an extra.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Anyone use an Amsoil filter before, or have any data on that one? I've looked and the only people who say anything about it are Amsoil themselves and of course they say they are awesome. |

ISO 5011 Duramax Air Filter Test Report The best thing I have found so far is here, test by independent lab includes AEM, AFE wet, AFE dry, Airaid, and K&N, It is quite technical, but I have more confidence in AEM than AFE because they provide hard data from an independent testing lab , not vague graphs with no numbers on them which is all I find on AFE's web site: http://www.aempower.com/files/swri_d..._data_10-7.pdf

Now that we're back from SEMA we're going to be sending out the direct orders today and tomorrow I believe. We're already sold out (DOH!), and we've begun the next production run of a couple hundred units. We're also working on the MS6 bracket most likely this weekend. So hopefully we'll have a working Nano on an MS6 next week! | |
