Default CP-E and AMS!!!

We have been working with AMS very closely over the last few months on the BMW N54 platform and they are tuning with the Standback2 on their 335i with upgraded turbos. While spending time with them showing product in their booth at SEMA 2009 and through all our time on the phone and computers tuning the MazdaSPEED platform came up many times.

After talking it out AMS has decided to become authorized tuners for the MazdaSPEED community. With our latest breakthroughs on the platform in which we are now able to make the power big turbos should EFFICIENTLY make - and on DI alone - we figured who better to rely on for tuning than one of the most well known tuning companies on the market. Eric (Sales Manager at AMS) and Chris (head of tuning at AMS) are looking forward to working with the community.

Chris will be here shortly to comment and introduce himself. Let the pump gas 11 second club begin!

GREAT news!! I'm excited.

I would like to ask if you guys at AMS are interested at all in developing some hard parts for the Speed 6's?

Light weight drive shafts, axels, Diff gears.

seeing how you are EVO gods and AWD guru's it would make perfect sense to make hard parts for us as well.

I have tried contacting AMS with questions about this and never get a return e-mail or phone call.

AMS is local and they did some work on my SRT.

Can we get AMS to start doing engine builds? Now I would keep my car if that announcement is made.

Right now we have WAYYYYY too much do without taking on any more projects like intake manifolds and drivetrain parts! Our engineers are already here on the weekends as it is!

We only have one location in Chicago, but I regularly make trips to other parts of the country. In the past two months I have been to:

Hawaii
Orlando
Puerto Rico
Antigua

First off it's great that AMS is interested in some form in our platform. I'm a huge fan of their work, and I know just how capable they are.

Pardon my skepticism and correct me if I'm wrong, but by Chris's own admission we won't be seeing more hard parts any time soon if at all, just tuning support. Is there really that much that the folks at AMS can do to make our fully bolted BT cars go from the high 12's to low 11's (and below?) with just tuning, the same tuning available to anyone else with the CPE flashes and an SB? This is not to say that I have any doubt about how helpful AMS's tuning knowledge may prove to be in understanding our ECU's better.

That said, I would love to have my doubts dispelled and I look forward to 500whp mazdaspeeds rolling around if "The Wall" has indeed been broken and proper tuning is all that's needed to reach these goals / the full potential of BT's and all the bolt ons we already have available. I shall sit tight and wait for results though before getting all excited.

My point is that while the importance of tuning cannot be understated, AMS's evo has countless hours put into developing hard parts as well as tuning.

Please don't take this as any sort of attack or attempt at discrediting a vendor (wouldn't work anyway for anyone that knows anything about AMS).

This platform has clearly just made me cynical over the years.


Edit: I suppose the main thing I'm driving at is that I see everyone getting very excited about this announcement, and the last couple of times I've seen that (ex. DCR), when it didn't amount to much very quickly the community was just as quick to become resentful, and it would be a shame to alienate a great company such as AMS in the same fashion. In other words, be realistic about your expectations, don't think that because AMS is shifting some focus to our cars we'll all be driving 600-800WHP bulletproof cars in a month.

in all honesty, i just want a strong and reliable 350-370whp daily driver without having some ridiculous turbo bolted on, changing out the fueling system and without worrying about blowing up.

but... i would love to see someone else pushing 500-600whp. especially on the ms6.

IMO just having a reliable source for us to turn to for a good tune on these SB's and a chance that hard parts are coming in the future is a good step.
