| Not Ranked : 0 score When I bought my CPE Dp used on here from another member, the cat was completely fucked, (seller didn't tell me), but I called CPE and since I wasn't the original owner I couldn't get it through their warranty. However, CPE told me to send it to them and they welded in a new cat for $150 and shipped it back to me free of charge. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score There are several other ways to help reduce CO. 1. Reduce timing - a lot - like by 8-10 degrees across the board 2. Throw in some methanol in the tank. 1 gallon methyl hydrate in half a tank of gas.

| Not Ranked : 0 score The CPE cat and aftermarket 2way cats don't do much for NOx. You need a 3 way cat for that which the OEM is. Also high combustion temperatures lead to high NOx emissions.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I think the cp-e cat is just that bad. When @Celestspeed3; was taking apart @Fobio;'s car to build it, the cp-e cat was pushed right into the secondary o2 sensor.

| Not Ranked : 0 score The are not bad they are acceptable. They reduce the smell behind the car that's about it. A true 3-way metal core cat that will stand up to our abusive tuning and work properly is about $500. Now if CP-E told you the cat option was $500 you would tell them to fuck right off. So they supply one that will keep the cops off your tail and that's about it.

| Not Ranked : 0 score You can ask for CP-E's help all day long, a brand new high flow cat will not pass CA emissions. They are the most stringent of all 50 states, that's why 99% of aftermarket parts are 49 state legal. The only thing a high flow cat does is heat up to burn off un-burnt fuel, not as much science as those fancy spensive OEM cats.

| Not Ranked : 0 score The high flow cats do catalyze Co into co2 but they lose efficiency over time and contain a lot less catalyst than an oem cat so they will not pass emissions after a few years and need to be replaced. The oems build the calibration of the vehicle around maintaining cat life and this is one of the reasons the disi falls on its face after 5500rpm on the stock tune.

*EDIT* If CP-E decides to help you out, you'll have to send it in, then you might end up being in the same boat in another year or two. If it isn't affecting performance, I'd switch it out and put the stock one back on. I know when I was rolling in a Honda(I know ), the shop I went to in CO was thinking about making an emissions kit that had the stock manifold and cat for rent and install, maybe you could buy an ebay cheapo setup and weld in the stock cats. Just because I hear the shape of the stock DP is a PITA (I have have yet to install one) to take off and welding in both stock cats where it would be easier to remove might make doing it every year easier. And thanks for not mentioning you already had a test done, fucking operator. That's like taking something in to get troubleshot and you don't give all the info.

| Not Ranked : 0 score @Ferdball; PM them or email them. I can personally vouch for them backing up their warranty and will quickly replace the cat and return the DP. Mine got screwed due to a loose 2nd o2 and even though they knew it was installer error, they still replaced it. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Okay, I went by the shop and asked them about it. They said that the numbers are correct. I thought that maybe if a car was passing, that they would just fill the fields with zeroes because it didn't matter. But they said that the numbers are provided by the machine, and there's nothing they can do to change it. So this myth is BUSTED. The smog check numbers are VERIFIED. P.S.: I'm going to clean my tailpipe and see how long that lasts. P.S.S.: I still haven't heard from CP-e. I wonder if they're still on vaca. Last edited by Ferdball; 01-04-2013 at 04:35 PM.
