Default CPE 3 rear motor mount - new vs old

I saw a little bit about this discussed in some of the other related threads, but, I didn't really get an answer, so, I thought I'd post a new thread to try to address it.

I just received one the new batch of CPE 3 rear motor mounts. Its bushing is black. The first generation had a blue bushing. Further, Palerider did say the new ones have a harder material than the first generation. So, my questions are:

1. What is the new material and duro?
2. For people who got the first version, should they replace them?

My wife has a regular 3, not a speed, and I bought the part basically as PM, its no performance car. So, I'd actually prefer the softer material, as long as it would hold up -- and I presume it would on a regular 3 -- then maybe somebody who has a first generation but would actually prefer the second generation might want to swap. Just an idea.

Thanks for any info!

i love how there isn't any added vibrations over stock...feels like you didnt even change the car at idle...but wheel hop is no longer an issue...the front end feels more solid

Yes, and their site still says that and still shows blue rubber. So, it hasn't been updated.

I have additional details concerning the durometer of the new mounts as well as an installation guide in my review thread here:

Thanks for that writeup! I thought that there weren't enough pictures in the install guide they gave us. So, that is much appreciated.

I see you make note of the fact that there were some issues with the 50, and now it is 60. Is it still EPDM rubber? I was wondering, since it is now black instead of blue and CPE has used blue EPDM for a number of their mounts.

Also, for people that have the 50, are they still considered okay?

It's still the same material, just with a different target durometer rating. That's straight from Josh.

Yep, they're still EPDM rubber. The color difference was mostly due to the fact that we were rushing things, and the next batch of bushings will actually be 'cp-e grey.' We stopped making them blue because there's another company on the block that really like that blue color

The first batch of mounts were somewhat inconsistent, so if your 50-duro mount happened to fall on the low-end of the tolerance band then it may tear. If it does, folks are welcome to send the mount in for the updated bushing. So as of right now there are 50-duro mounts out there that are holding up just fine, thankfully!

As far as we're aware the issue only affected the MS3 product.

I didn't know that "other company" made mounts with blue rubber. At any rate, thanks for clearing up the color. Its see now that its just a die.

Thanks. I'm going to see if I can find someone with a 50 that would rather have a 60 and swap. I'd rather have the 50.

I think you'll be surprised by how compliant the 60-Duro mount is after break-in. After a couple weeks it's really quite comfortable.

Its for my wife's regular 3, primarily as PM. Its no performance car. But, I know she'll bitch about it if she notices any vibration.

Would it be possible for you to "borrow" it during the break-in period? Once that's over, she won't notice the difference.
