Zero chance of cracking? Eh... I've seen cast manifolds crack before. It is definitely a nice looking piece, but $700 is a bit of a shock to this guy. To compare apples to oranges (since we all love to), the aftermarket cast manifold from Forced Performance for my DSM was <$300.

Fast forward a few years ago when Medieval was about your only option. Then you get fucked out of $1K by the faggot crooks, like I did.

Good to see so many options on the table these days, and by reputable vendors.

Good question. We'll update the site with this information as soon as we're able.

The turbine outlet is ~54.8mm
The wastegate outlet is 44mm

Any other technical questions can be forwarded to smarques@cp-e.com

Glad you guys like it so far, we're pretty happy with how they came out.

I sent a message to JP to get me one of these as well as the Tial MVR wastegate.

I was also taking a look at the setup and you can plumb the wastegate with coolant from the throttlebody. All you need is some silcone hose. This is how I'm going to plumb it on my car anyway.

How will that blocked off EWG tube impede flow if using an IWG turbo?

I'm not fluid expert but I don't think it will impede flow at all. Once the cavity is pressurized with exhaust the pressure barrier should act as a wall and the rest of the flowing exhaust should move past it. Either that or the exhaust will move past the opening so fast that it will create a small vacuum inside the wastegate part but I doubt it.

Getting this manifold in stock flange and using IWG seems like a waste to me. With the tial flange option you can use any turbine housing you want, not to mention they are lighter than the ATP ones. So you have to get EWG big deal just upgrade the turbo, mani and DP at the same time.

It's quite unlikely that it will cause any significant obstruction to the flow when using an IWG turbo. We set out to design an EWG manifold first and foremost. Castings are pretty expensive, so we thought it a good compromise to have an exhaust manifold that was designed to use an EWG, but have the option to use IWG if the user desired. Hence, the block off plate option.

Having two different castings for IWG and EWG would be pretty outrageous from a cost perspective.

i was planning on getting edge's external gt30 kit with the ewg in the turbine housing

hopefully someone does a flow test on the mani to see if it does impede exhaust flow at all when capped

Very very very good looking manifold.

I'd love to see it installed on a car. Also, on stock location manifolds, once turbos start to get bigger than ~3076ish compressor size, clearance between the block and turbo becomes an issue.

Will this be an issue with any of the flange options?

We've had that manifold on a 2010 Speed 3 with a 3582R (TiAL housing) for about a year now. The clearance between the block and the turbo is fine. I'll try to see if we can find a picture somewhere of it, or if not, I'll take a picture of another gen 1 we have here tomorrow.

Truthfully, we haven't done much with other non TiAL housing turbos in the larger (30 and 35R variety). I can assure you though, that the TiAL housings fit with out block clearance problems.

Very good to hear.

Do you have an ETA on the IM now that dreams are coming true?

We don't have an ETA on the IM, some of the CFD that came back on that part wasn't as good as it could have been. As a result, we're making some more changes. We're contemplating getting a working model made out of a substitute material (Plastic or something of the sort) and giving it a go on the dyno. CFD is no substitute for the real thing (ha).

need more 38mm gate action!

I was almost debating to switch my setup to this manifold with the tial hotside, but I dont feel like switching to a 44mm gate.

NO! that was with the EFR turbo, not a GT turbo! you can fit just about any GT turbo back there no problem, any scroll you want

steedspeed was able to do it...

EFR turbos are so much longer then GT's. It can be done with a GT turbo.

ok here what can be done to fix the 44mm gate issue 44mm to 38mm mv-s

here is a job that i did that i had to do an adapter for and trust me this was DIFFICULT to say the least especially when it came down to the dump tube.

Depending on how far the 5th runner sticks out makes it that much more difficult.
There 44 mm gate was to large and was hitting the A/C line.

Had to measure the angle in which i had to make the wastegate come off from.

This gave me more room place the wastegate but this made it much more difficult for the dump since it the gate was over top of the starter. Also had to make it far enough away from the A/C

final placement

that EWG runner isent going to affect flow at all just like celestespeed3 said. once that pressure builds up in the leg, it will act as a wall for the rest of the runners.

and you should be able to weld 2 38/44mm vband flanges together to make an adapter.

im also super curious to see how this fits with ATP 35R. most people dont go this route so u would most likely go to a Tial housing anyway after this size.

I don't think the GT35 will have any fitment issues because of the Tial housing.

In this thread there is my Tial GTX3036, next to an ATP GTX3076.

Fast_dude's goes big turbslow thread

Although not the best photo, the Tial housing moves the whole turbo assembly about 3/4" from the block if not more than that. The edge of my Tial flange closest to the turbine wheel is tangential to the wheel, while the ATP housing is not, and I think that's the cause of the problems.

The fact of the matter is that this is a TIGHT engine bay and exceptionally difficult to fit large turbos without cutting or permanently modifying the chassis/firewall and climate controls.

we have seen the EFR 7163 exhibit spool of the GT2871R, and approach 7670 power levels. There is no other turbo like it, anywhere in the world. Comparing it to traditional garretts is purely mental masturbation. Once i am given permission i will share some dyno results

anyone who is not a believer should spend a few minutes educating themselves on the difference from a traditional turbine wheel to a "mixed flow" turbine wheel. This is the first time mixed flow turbine geometry has been applied to a performance turbocharger, and with the results we've been seeing - this is the way of the future. The 6258 will spool faster, but the 7163 will make a lot more power.

These 2 cars we are building will be the proof by which you are welcome to judge us

The Big EFR b2 turbos are simply not going to fit. Unless you want to cut up your firewall, remove the heater core and re-do the hard line plumbing on your block - thats not what this is about. We developed a top-shelf bolt on kit that anyone can install in 2 days and be making a LOT of power with. and will support it with AP, and oversized maf. This kit is not meant for 700+whp race gas firebreathing drag-race cars.

regardless the 7163 is going to be publically released much later in 2012, the other EFRs will come into circulation first - they are all very impressive units in their own right. You will notice there is zero information on the 7163 anywhere online, whether its full-race.com or BW's site, it doesnt exist in the "real world" yet - this is next generation stuff.

The B1 turbos: 6258, 6758 and 7163 are T25 singlescroll ONLY at this time. They may develop twinscroll variants in the future, but this is straight up state-of-the-art turbocharging technology applied to the mazdaspeed platform. Ive been doing this my entire life, we worked in conjunction with BW on the development and FORD was kind enough to perform a complete CFD analysis on the setups. this is not some slapped together deal

in order to fit the B2 twinscrolls it requires extensive hacking and welding to make this fit, as well as heavy modifications to the alternator.

This has been my profession for 14 years, there is no way in hell the B2 EFR will fit in mazdaspeed engine bay, neither the T3 singlescroll B2 nor the T4 twinscroll B2. they wont fit with out serious cutting.

the EFR 7163 will bend the GTX30 over and rape it sideways. no contest.
