Pictures of the cp-e "nano"

So I was able to snag some pics of our new intake that we're calling the XcelNANO™. This is the prototype unit we've made, so this may not represent the final product. We're planning on engraving the cp-e logo onto the side of the housing, units will be powdercoated, and we also need to wrap up a few loose ends before this goes prime time.



A few things to point out...

Although it looks like our intake doesn't have a bellmouth, it most certainly does!

A bellmouth at the entrance of any air inlet is important because it maintains flow energy by reducing flow separation. As a "For instance," if you put a vacuum on a pipe it would flow some volume. Now, if you put a bellmouth on the end of the pipe and pull the same vacuum, the pipe will actually pull more air through it for no other reason than lower entrance losses. So it's important to include some kind of radius at the entrance of any inlet for the least flow restriction possible.

The funny thing is that we've been running bellmouths on our intakes for some time now, but never really advertised the feature. All of our intakes have a radiused piece of plastic at the entrance of our pipes to smooth airflow. We recently cut a new filter apart to illustrate this:



Finally, all of the XcelNANO's will feature our CNC machined aluminum housing and stock-style airflow straightener.



MSRP hasn't been finalized but it will be in the ~$200 range with generous introductory discounts. Hang tight guys and I'll try to get more pics and info!

We don't have any LTFT numbers yet because we have yet to dial the housing in. I just wanted to get some pictures up here so you guys could see what we're dealing with. Anthony (our Anthony) will be working on the Nano for the next few days, and I'm hoping that we can dial in the fuel trims sometime next week, or maybe even this weekend. When we have that data available I'll post it up.

The brace is another piece that we still have to finalize. We're trying to create a brace on the engine itself so that when it torques it doesn't break the Nano mount, but it's looking pretty tight in that area. If we do end up making a brace on the frame we'll make sure that it has plenty of flex so it doesn't snap when the engine rocks.

Yea, the aFe filters have a little bump stop for the pipe, and a molded velocity stack. So instead of machining the bellmouth into the MAF housing, we just let our air filter manufactrer do the work

We're going to start pre-orders as soon as we have a product to sell. I think we can wrap this up in the next week or so, but it'll depend heavily on the brace. If we have to do a lot of design work for the brace it may move the schedule back a little. I'll try to get on here as much as possible to give updates though.

Actually we can make that happen, though it may take a few weeks. We're about to take delivery of our new 4WD Mustang dyno, and that's exactly the kind of testing that we're looking forward to. You can count on something along those lines though.

Yeah, the best I can tell at the moment the MSRP is going to be somewhere around $200. Remember though, our dealers carry our products below our MSRP, and we'll offer an introductory sale price as well.

the machined air straightener looks sturdy, might it hold up better than the ones that cobb had to replace ( check mine every 1k to make sure it's straight, lol). I might be replacing my cobb with one of these.

Straighteners have a beveled edge to direct flow. That is some nice CNC work.
