(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Why our inlet is unique: First, it's silicone! That's important because the silicone will resist heat transfer to the pre-turbocharger air. It's a true 3" diameter (7.065" cross-sectional area)! It will feature metal reinforcement to protect from collapsing under vacuum. Will retain the factory mounting points and vacuum provisions. We'll have versions for both stock turbos and GT-series 4" flange turbos. So there's no adapter coupler necessary; the silicone inlet attaches directly to the cold air intake and the turbo inlet ![]() We're waiting for our silicone version to arrive, and once it does I'll post up some pictures, pricing, and availability info! |

| Not Ranked : 0 score This is definitely true. But, has anybody else noticed that ATP now lists a NEW part for the MS3? What is weird is, they still list the old part for the MS6, but the MS3 and MS6 have the same damn inlet part. So, I don't understand that. Their new part, though, I think is still inferior to what CPE is going to do, it at least looks better than their old part. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Bah! We're not going to leave you hanging ![]() That's a good question. My skin crawls when I see people blindly adhearing to the "bigger is better" philosophy because 99.9% of the time, bigger is /not/ better. However, turbo inlets are one of those expections to the rule because on a turbo, no inlet at all is best. Your turbo will perform best with the least amount of vacuum as measured at the impeller (stolen from another website):
All I'm trying to show here is that any restriction at the inlet is going to increase the pressure ratio, which almost invariably reduces turbo performance. So, it is in our best interest to create the lowest restriction pipe as possible. As such, there's no comparison testing necessary because we know a 3" pipe will outflow a 2.5" pipe. Also realize that this pipe is not only designed for the stock turbo, but also big turbos like the GT3076. So a < 3" pipe may be easier to package, but it wouldn't offer the lowest restriction. No price just yet ![]() Yes sir! | |

| Not Ranked : 0 score will it be squished at all? the only reason i ask is because i have a 2.5" homebrew TIP and that thing BARELY fits in there with the stock battery. ALSO, can we get a finite answer on whether the 3 and 6 have the same TIP? and if they dont will this fit the 6 as well? im tired of being left in the dust (literally no pun intended lol 6>>3) with all these MS3 parts coming out but no love for the 6.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Well until someone releases a functional 3" maf housing, the maf housing will be the limiting factor on the flow. You could have a 10" (over exaggeration) inlet, but with a smaller maf that is located 18" to 36" away from the turbo, this is limiting the flow. Correct me if I am wrong? |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Will the silicone have the metal bands at the intake end to slip our intake over this? Seems like the current pancake tubes intake diameter of 2 3/8" will be the new restriction once the bigger MAF's are avalible. Speaking of larger MAFs how will the car be tuned for that? Scalar in the Standback MAF tab (if v2/v3 even have that still)? |

| Not Ranked : 0 score As having been selling an inlet pipe myself, , I do know all the dimensions. I'm sure nobody will be buying mine after a major company releases one. But, be that as it may, I do know the dimensions. The stock inlet pipe has a 60 mm hose connection. That is almost exactly the same as 2 3/8". I don't know of anybody making a 60 mm coupler, though maybe somebody does. If a 60 mm coupler can't be found, a 2.5" coupler could probably be used as you can generally get 60 mm hose to stretch over 2.5". But it will be kinda tight. The recirc is 29 mm, which is basically 1 1/8". |
