Default What is it with Cpe and bolts?

Look, I love your gear, it is well designed (For the most part), and looks tits.

But honestly, how is it that you keep screwing up with bolt lengths?

I have just been fitting your, what would be driver's side tranny mount in the US, and when I have bolted down the lower mount piece, and re-used the 17mm bolt from the original mount, I have come up 1/4" from making contact with the mount plate before I ran out of thread depth....

Now if this was a one off, I would take it in my stride. BUT, this is the second time I have bought a mount from Cpe, and had an issue with bolt lengths.

I bought the Stage 2 RMM a while ago, and the main bolt, that joins the tranny piece (which is pure porn by the way) to the chassis fork piece, was so short that I could not fit your supplied spring washer and nut on. Hell, I could barely get a nut on it at all, there was so little thread left over.

Bolt lengths and the comparative thicknesses of mounting plates is not rocket science for craps sake.
Take a look at the OEM mounting plate that goes on the tranny, and see how thick it is. Now look at the thickness of your lower mounting plate....See a slight variance there?

Please...PLEASE, in the future, supply all new bolts and nuts for your Tranny mount kit, and make sure they will actually fit.

End rant.

Had this same issue with tranny mount. I put a couple heavy duty spacers in there. Been on since February with no problems.

Never had an issue with my stage 2 RMM, even if I had it would've been worth having the only correctly orriented rmm on the market, lol.

We are in the process of installing both driver and passenger side mounts on one of our vehicles to see if it's and install issue or if we are sending the wrong size bolt. Not pointing fingers, just trying to get to the bottom of this so we can resolve this and get the people affected by this a solution.

Yes it is the re-used oem bolt.

If you look at the thickness of your mounting plate in comparison to the thickness of the oem mount plate, you can see how much more depth you would need to tighten it down. Sadly that depth is not present.

I worked out you would need to cut approximately 10mm off the oem bolt to get a safe torque, without bottoming out and potentially stripping the thread out of the gearbox.

We've tested this on several gen1 and gen2's and only now this issue has come up. Which is why we are investigating again. We will keep you updated on what we find.

It is possible your Aus Pu has a slightly different (shallower threading) gearbox.
Just saying. If CP-E never had an issue with it, and the fact that many people are running this mount on these forums without issue, that could be the problem.

Also, aren't there three bolts that hold that piece to the gearbox? Are the bolts maybe different lengths?

Cp-e's stuff is amazing quality, love it. I have the fmic, dp, and stage 2 rmm.
I had bolt issues with 2 of 3 though. The rmm didn't come with the main bolt that held the two parts together, and the fmic came with the two bolts to hold it to the crash bar but one was the wrong size (too thin).
Thankfully its nothing going to the hardware store can't resolve and not even $5.
like I said though, still great products and I'm really looking forward to the intake mani they've got coming!
just check the bolts before installing so you don't have to put your car back together to run down to the hardware store.

I'm gonna go ahead and resurrect this thread.

Once the CP-e exclusive Australian distributor bullshit rights are sorted out then I will be looking to get a S2 RMM for my Gen 2 MPS. I have the same year/model that LittleRedMPS has and I don't really want to encounter this problem. So what's the deal?
