Finally got my wheels. Was gonna settle with RX8's for Evo X wheels but decided to just spend more for the wheels I like.

Specs are 18x9.5 @ 40 offset all the way around
Fronts are 225/40 and rear is 225/45 Rear is rolled.
(I believe 40 offset @ 9.5 width will not clear on Stock struts, for those who wants to go with the same specs)

When i got my evo rims first thing i did was spend $250 (all four rubbers) on MAYRUN pos tires. Cause... hell, first thing I was going to do was go out and try to melt the tread off before winter anyway. I've driven the balls off these shit tires and have really never been dissapointed.

Pony up for some shitty summer tires. With a nice wiiiiide contact patch.


note... with 9.5 and a 245 or more you will need to roll fenders. and/or bumpstops on rear.

Sir they're Dunlop star specs, I'm not going to waste these sticky tires. And I'm saving up for 245 40 hankook Rs3. So before you all start assuming shit. Ask first.

Also I would like to say 225 star specs are similar to 235/40 for other summer tires, I've done my research and made she that they're save.

Ooh yes, I chose to stretch my tires purposely. I check my tire pressure every morning and I have not drove over 60 on this set up. These tires are equivalent to 235/40 on other brands.

tires are a bit stretched but really not bad...I've seen 215/40s shoved onto 18x10.5s with nasty camber. your setup is usable and your tires are excellent, I can't complain.

So sir. Mounting and balanced were done by me. And I rather buy some name brand sticky tires than to settle with the budget tires my cousin have. And again, 225/40 on the star specs have similiar width to other 235/40 brand tires.

And what you're thinking are the people that tries to fit 215/40 on a 9.5 inch wide wheel. My star specs sidewalls are stiff enough that neither side of the sidewall is close to touching the ground.

Are people here really this ignorant? It's one thing to not like stretched tires, but don't go around telling people it's unsafe, when that's just not true. People have been doing this shit for a long time and to a much higher degree than this, without problems. Do you guys not realize that many OEMs (BMW, Porsche, Mercedes) use tire set ups with a similar amount of stretch as the OP? Do you think they would do that if it was unsafe? C'mon...

Well, that's a year old post and the OP is actually broken... But many BMWs are running "stretched" tires now. I'm talking 215 on a 7.5" wheel stretch, not 215 on a 9.5" wheel stretch.













It seems to be mainly the front wheels on porsches, but those definitely look to be slight stretched.

It's rubbing a little on the back. But it's on 225 45 tires. Just ordered a pair of 255 40 star specs. Hope it fits without spacer on the front

those would obviously be my cruising/show wheels lol.

I plan on getting some FD wheels with some ET streets on them for actual street use.

Slicks will be here thursday... just need 15's and some spacers to finish the set up.

I actually won't know until spring. Weather's getting cold right now. So I'll probably install the tires on February. And save up to get the wheels powdercoated & the corksport front camber plates.

Update.
Finally 60 degrees in chicago, go my Dunlop Sp sport 600 mounted.







And this is why i love hatchbacks. 4 wheels with tires mounted. And 3 245/40 tires. And still have enough space for 1 more tires. Maybe even 2.


Judging by the amount of space I have in the front. I can probably go 255 or 265 up front before touching the coilovers. The wheels itself is 4-5mm from touching the coilovers.

Next week, going to put on strut mounts, change the front sway bar bushings and then get a wheel alignment. Autocross is starting is 17 days :3

With my 245 40 setup, my rear would rub the tab that connects the rear bumper to the quarterpanel. (my rear fender is already rolled)

I had to use a grinder to grind it down. I would go 255 35, as it is closer to the speedometer ratio.

Nice setup. I just ordered the same sized set for my 2012 and I'm slightly worried about fitment... Did you end up having to run a spacer or anything? I'm going to run a 245/35-18 tire.

Someone should really let all the guys drifting and euro guys and also lots of jdm guys that stretched tires are not safe lmao. That is probably one of the oldest arguments on every forum. I could understand 205s on a 9.5 rim but the op set up is perfectly fine. About five years ago I ran 20x10s with a 235 for about two years with not one issue.

It did not scrape when i had 225/40 tires on, it did scrape when i had 245 40 tires on.
I had to trim the part where it connects the quarterpanel and the rear bumper. Trimmed it with a grinder.

Cars gone, boy do i miss it.
