red rims on a black car?

I'm not sure if this would look decent or not on a mazdaspeed 6 but I had the idea of a red or dark red colored wheels. I couldn't find a picture of a speed with red rims but here's an STI with rota grids in red. What do you guys think of this?

I have always thought that in order to get by with "flashy" wheels you need to be fast. You have a gt2871 so you should be fine with these wheels. In other words it is only ricer if you are slow.

Havent done it because all my momeys have been going towards performance and not visual atm. Soon tho.... soon....

This thread might be a little old so sorry if I'm reviving a dead thread but I like the idea. A bright red or a translucent red would look sick. You can always plasti dip cheap to feel it out just can't get the candy colors that way. My wheels are pink and I love them. Planning to powder coat them soon cause the dips not bright enough. Point is, it's yours so do what you want.

all input is appreciated , anodized red is probably the color I'd go for. Just a matter of expenses now.

Yeah I hear ya there. That would def look sick though! Actual anodizing is super expensive but look into the translucent red PC. Basically a candy shell shot over a base color like silver or gold. A lot more reasonable I'm sure.

My father-in-law owned a chrome plating, powder coating and anodizing shop before it went under water during Katrina otherwise I'd say I got the hook up. I'm trying to strike some deals with his friends in the business so we'll see.

I finally found a decent thread for this combo. I was also thinking along the red rim path but doing it darker more muted with the badges/emblems done that way with the tails sprayed red. Thoughts?

not sure about tails, imo that would be overkill but to each their own.

I like a darker red color though. Just a pure crimson red I think would be a little ugly.

word.. like a deep/ red smoke for rims.... i wont black my tails and i hate the stock white contrast with the black mica. red is the only option to smooth the look. maybe i'll just do red badges/emblems tailights with stock rim color. either way nothing is perm. Need more dolllas for go fast parts this is the only way to get my rocks off.

try it when you get the chance. even take a piece of scrap metal to PC to see how it comes out if you're not sure.
