Kia Ora, (Hello)

Joe here from Auckland New Zealand, just introducing myself to the forum, purchased a 2007 Mazda CX-7 Japanese Import.

Runs like a gem, minus the Japanese DVD system, does my head in. Non bose system.

Hi Joe, I have had mine since new in 2007 and at 141,000km so far.

I didn't have any major problems until I started modding the car and pushing higher boost etc.

There are some guides on buying a Mazdaspeed on this forum that cover the basic issues with the 2.3 DISI turbo motors.

In general keep the oil changes up to them, turbo seals are a weakness and timing chain/VVT is an expensive but necessary maintenance requirement. My VVT got to 140k but probably should have been changed out closer to 130k.

Another issue is the A/C compressor clutch can fail. Mine hasn't but my A/C hose failed twice, once under warranty. The second time I got a stronger aftermarket hose installed.

I have read some horror stories about the timing chain/VVT costing thousands.
Hose hasn't played up since?

I have replaced the cabin filter, air filter and spark plugs so far thanks to the HOW TO guide.
