Caught a Mustang putting on the rice!

Driving home from work today and this dark red mustang 2008-ish pulls up to me and takes off. I jump on it and then we get up to some cars and I let off. He stays about 90-95mph for a while and I finally make my way up to him and see a round Cobra emblem on his trunk. I get next to him downshift and ease into it. Once I hear him get on it I hit it and start pulling away.
I slowdown, raise one hand if saying WTF and he smiles and does the same.

I am a FMIC away from being fully bolted with a stage 2 tune.

I am calling B.S. on this being a Cobra!

1 of 2 things are possible and one is more likely. It was not a Shelby, which is the more likely option. 2) it was a Shelby and he accelerated using 6th gear and thought it would be a waste of gas to show you that is really is a Shelby.

Half the mods people consider a "must" to be fully bolted do nothing for power in most cases. People with aftermarket bov/bpv's running <20 psi comes to mind.

What mods perform better than others is not the issue. The issue is what qualifies as fully bolted.

I was thinking it was a GT because it sounded like one maybe with only an exhaust. Are they 305hp or 325hp?

I have had 2 other GTs around the same year try to pull away from in front of me on the highway and I reeled in both. This was the first one that I actually able to go side by side with.

Oh, and I was running with 20% tint.

I would say it was most likely a GT. those 4.6 3v's aren't fast enough to even beat a test pipe only speed.

As a previous owner of a 08 GT500, I can say it most likely wasn't one. If you had a bt I would say yeah it could have been a stock one.

Idiots putting cobra badges on gt's. plus the front end would have been a good way to tell. Did you get a chance to see the big fogs in the grill?

I honestly can't remember if he had the fogs in the grill or not. It did look like his front bumper was different from a stock GT. It was actually a pretty clean looking Mustang until you get to the Cobra emblems. I am sure I will see this guy again soon and hopefully, at the least, I can stop next to him at a light and find out what his deal is.

Anyways, would a real Cobra waste his time slowing down to fuck with a MS3?

When I owned mine I probably would have played around some. I messed around with all my buddies cars.

Even if it was a stock gt500 with stock gearing (they aren't super fast) he would have still beat you pretty good. Cause even if you were at 300whp. His power/weight is much better

It's simple, man. The mani and turbo are both engine accessories. You can easily swap those out without having to tear apart the block itself.

Fully bolted means you upgraded every possible part you could without pulling the motor.

Unfortunately I sucked myself into the impression that fully bolted was intake, TIP, DP, CBE, FMIC/TMIC through previous incorrect statements. Makes more sense to include Mani along with others. BT, I assumed was beyond fully bolted and fully built is what it is.

I think I will just go with "Got some shit done to it."

Lets reference V8's really quick for this. Would you consider a heavily modded V8 with stock exhaust manifolds fully bolted? Of course not. You'd need a nice set of tube headers to finish that off.

Well, our cars are no exception to this. Just because we have a turbo attached to our exhaust manifold doesn't mean we can automatically just dismiss it like it doesn't count.

If anything, it's the most important part of being fully bolted. Upgrading your turbo and mani is the money maker. Next to a solid tune, it's what generates the most power.

So, sorry to burst everyone's bubble, but the majority of you claiming to be fully bolted, are not.

Just tell people you've got a bunch of shit done to it. That's all you have to say.
