Suprising outcome for my first full on roll race with the MS3

At least I was supirsed. And no, sorry, no vid, I was on the way back from vegas, just an impromptu run.

So I get on the 210 merger from the 15s after a short trip to vegas. Earlier I spotted a nice
c5 vette, unsure of the year, it was yellow with blue headlights, looked mean as shit. He was flying around all the semi trucks earlier, swerving in and out of traffic like an asshat.

So then i end up passing him, I am with my girlfriend and have no intention of racing, first because of the girl, second because I figure I will get stomped, but then as we get up on the 210 this fucking guy is like 6 inches from my back bumper. I have been known to have a temper, especially after a five hour road trip, but still I pull over to let him pass.

He gets next to me and starts pointing and laughing, then I roll down my window and say, dude, seriously, you want to race a mazda 3 with a corvette? Then he punches it, so I say fuck it.

We started off at about 85mph, he slows down to wait for me. We jump at the same time and I am shocked because I am starting to pull on him, by about 120mph I look next to me and he is a good 3 lenghts back. I am in complete and utter shock. Then he switches lanes and pulls up next to me again, throws his hands in the air like wtf, why did I let off so soon.

So I decide he must not have been embarassed enough yet, get down to 85mph again and we both hit it, this time up to 130mph, and I put four lengths on him. I look at him and shake my head, he looks completely stumped, and I felt the same way, lol. He wants to go again and wants to go past that speed it looks, and I am down, but I have to merge onto the other freeway, he drives away laughing to his passenger like I was scared to go again or something, lol. Funny. Best kill of my life.

BTW I am sure I will be told this is bs, but my guess is that this was an early model of c5 with a slushbox. Doing some research I see that they run anywhere from 13.4 to 14.1 stock in the earlier years. So it really isn't [I]that[I] shocking, but I am still in disbelief.

Normally I would call b.s., but please note that I NEVER post street racing videos because I always do it. And also, btw, all the traffic had more or less died down, I let off when we started approaching cars but he would ricer fly by and swerve threw traffic at 120mph or so.

So, old vette's, not that impressive, and I love my car again, lol.

My mods should be in my sig, but all I have is test pipe and cai. My car has felt alot stronger ever since that tsb ecu flash, and I chirp in third, spind through second on good, new tires.

But since I know it will be said anyways,
there you go haters, but I wouldn't make this shit up.


I also obsolutely demolished an older cobalt ss, but he gave up quickly knowing it was over. only went from 65 to about 90, but it was a total blowout.

All this just made me more excited about finally getting the 240sx totally running as I am making about 240whp now and the car weighs 2100lbs, thing is gonna be so viscous, then I go ball bearing

Nice..What the hell is that guy thinking?He wants to race to 150mph or something..He sounds like a douch nozzle and Im glad he got his ass handed to him.So guys should of slowed to about 50-60mph and did a roll,starting at 85 seems high for a start..

Thing was we were both driving pretty fast as was and it's really hard to find a sweet spot in the ms3, for me 5th gear pulls pretty hard from about 90, 60 mph is sorta a weird speed for this car.

But yeah, the guy was a total jerk off, he was laughing at me for cutting of at 120 when we were approaching a wall of traffic, that's the only reason I had to hand his ass to him again.

And yeah, another reason to keep the car, until the genesis coupe comes out at least, lol.

Just kidding, I am keeping it, I am off to law school next year, can't take on the additional expense. I bought this car cash after making a bunch of money in the loan business, now it's back to school.

Its not bs. He was probably an automatic. The C5 isnt all that fast from a roll esp. an automatic. I have just recently stayed with a C6 automatic, my front tire was at their back tire. This was from 45 3rd gear to about 110 going into fifth. I have beaten so many cars and it blows my mind. A lot of people live in smaller areas and dont get to race a lot of fast cars on a daily basis. You would be surprised what this car does from a roll being heavily modded against other cars that may be hyped as faster. I killed an Evo X from a roll 30 to 120, 3 car lengths. And there are so many more.

Its all good until the MS3 gets spanked by a 1990s econobox running 10 psi of boost on a car that cost $2500 to build including the price of the car.

I've raced two C5s. One Auto from a roll and a 6 speed from a stand still. The one I raced from a roll had 30 day tags and a was being driven by a guy who thought he had a Veyron. We matched speed up to about 70 and I started making some distance on him. I was about 1-2 cars ahead @ 100 when we both shut down. His car appeared 100% stock. Sounded stock.

The other c5 was an ASSHOLE. Handicapped Va plates. It was white with a stupid looking body kit and ridiculous rear wing. We started from a dead stop. His car had side pipes (no shit) It was LOUD. He figured he'd limp off the line and annihilate me. FAIL BOAT. We were side by side. The road curved to the left and he was in the left lane. It put my front wheel at his passenger door. Defying all logic, the jackass moved into my lane @ about 80mph and continued to do so until I was in the paved shoulder. I let off to regain control and put my car back on the road. I was livid. I work with the president of Battlefield Corvettes. Told him about it. He said he knows the guy. The dude got the car about a year ago as part of a settlement from another auto accident where he hit a car head on while passing on a double yellow. I don't know how HE won a settlement when it clearly sounds like he was at fault. The guy I asked didn't understand it either.

Long story short, I matched the C5 off the line with a soft launch. I know it's not really a kill, but he wasn't stock. I feel pretty good with the fact my 5 door hatch back with a baby seat in the back stayed with Chevy's premier sports car.
I rode in a C6 and honestly, I don't think I have anything for that car. It's a whole nother animal.

It seems a lot of the time things shouldnt have happened the way they did. I was surprised when I pulled on a Maserati, but upon further investigation, the car might only have been good for a 13.4 1/4.

MS3 > Maserati Gran Tourismo doesnt make sense until you dig into it a little more.

Peope called bullshit on my end, but I dont see why it would be so tough to believe that Ive hung with a 13.4 second car. Ive went 13.4 at 109.

Ive even tangled with a C6 before. We never did go from a dead even roll, we just screwed around on the freeway a little and the cars seemed very even.

Of course they are twin turbo Vette and Viper guys...

I just have to laugh at posts like this.

The "almighty Z06" had 385 bhp in '01 when it debuted and gained 20 extra hp in 2002. So something that is "weak" you add a measly 35-55hp and it's SOOOO much better? Yea there are a few other small things, but they wouldnt matter in a roll race. And it doesn't take much to get 35-55bhp in mods on the LS1.

Kinda like the guys who didn't think my Trans Am was shit b/c it wasn't the WS6... that only had the hood scoop, wheels, and like 15bhp more. lmao.




Back to the post though- it's not impossible to beat one (obviously). I love surprising more powerful cars that have no idea what the hell is happening. Especially if they are a dick.

Ok, for the longest I thought there was something wrong with the C5 I played with. The guy was pretty nice, and since I have a deep respect for Vetts, I didn't intend to race him... We hung together for a while driving cross states, and then I guess he decided to race me. My roll was also from 75ish to 130, but I had to go partial throttle so I wouldn't pass him. The funny thing is, he was dancing all over his lane and I was like WTF??

Anyways, we spread apart and I stayed behind by 1/4 mile... 2 minutes later, he got pulled over lol
