Following the amazing success of the BNR Stage 3 & 4, which have been chosen
by many as the best, most cost-effective way to maximize the stock block,
BNR has taken things a step further with the Stage 5!

The BNR S5 is the highest HP, stock flanged turbocharger available for the speeds!

The S5 has a 3.5” compressor inlet and works with a 3.5” or larger intake pipe. It's
comparable to the competition’s GTX 3076, but what separates BNR from the others
is our own custom, 44-46mm external wastegate, .82 a/r turbine housing!

This turbocharger on a forged engine with ported stock intake gets 20 psi by 3400-3600
RPM. The first test car maxed out the intake and the 6 port injection at 515 WHP at 32 psi!
Auxillary port injection is needed to go higher than stock fuel limitation (370 WHP). The S5
has the capabilities for 550 WHP without sacrificing response. The S5 spools better than the
competition’s 3076 by approximately 300 RPM even with the big turbine housing!

Goddamnit. Make me regret my s4 now. Just have to keep telling myself I can push this little turbo to 450 and be happy.

what is "the competitions" 3076?

A garrett 3076 with atp housing?

I like that the S5 is only $200 bucks more than the S4, and uses the stock DP flange. So no need to buy a new DP. Just have to add an EWG, which will promote flow and prevent boost creep that I'm currently seeing with the S4 in near freezing weather. I don't get boost creep in warmer weather as the air is much less dense.

The IWG on any high flowing turbo will always be a restriction when temperatures drop. I'm going to port the WG this spring and hope for the best :) If all else fails, the S5 should do the trick due to it's awesome price tag. Just gotta build a block now.

Oh there’s a reason my s4 is ewg. Although I did creep pretty bad twice this winter. Shot up to 29 pounds when I usually cap around 23-24psi.

Oh man that's freaky! So you were still getting boost creep with the EWG? I wonder if it was getting stuck. I'm hoping that porting the IWG will do the trick, although I think better flow is to be had going external. I take it you used the Cobb IWG bracket? What was your first impression on going EWG (aside from the volume) ?

Yes, sir. It's referring to the ATP GTX3076.

Customer who provided the dyno was Clint Brown and Justin at Freektune did the tune for it. I don't have any, but I'll see what I can find.

Turns out he had an EWG manifold, so he put a block-off plate on the turbo and put the EWG on the manifold. Here are pics of the setup before installed, of the engine bay, and peeking down at the turbo.

The difference in A/R and the larger exhaust housing play a part here. And yes, it's journal bearing.

I'm sure it does, but given that we're comparing gt30 turbine wheels (of which the BNR's is slightly clipped) between a journal bearing turbo and ball bearing turbo, it's either that the BNR's housing and A/R are substantially smaller (at the expense of significant top end hp/trq?) or there are other variables at play here.

There's a lot of detail on our site, if you click the link in the first post, including: "BNR .82 a/r turbine housing"

The dyno chart is all I have at the moment, and BNR's claim of a faster spool is just based off comparing that chart to dyno charts from the GTX3076. This tester, as well as one other will be doing further testing in the coming weeks with higher boost, so more charts will become available with time.
