Yeah, btw, the exhaust sounds perfect. Not too loud, but sounds serious when you want it to. Mine is beginning to annoy me after all these years. It has crossed my mind to swap to a setup similar to yours.

Assuming you aren't moving much and its hot ass balls outside wherever you live, I'd say you're in the normal range for FMIC. Your coolant in decent condition?

I just drove into work and I did an experiment; I stayed completely off the boost for 50 miles. My average ECTs cruising at 70mph were 190F, maybe up to 205 going up the hills; so it appears that I have a 190 degree thermostat because it was holding 190 very consistently. My coolant is basically new; I went 50/50 when I put in a new radiator about 2k miles ago. This, along with what you guys said convinced me that my thermostat is fine.

However, I picked up a 180 degree thermostat. I am probably going to install it and then do the aftermarket fan control setup that turns the fans on at 200 and off at 190. I will probably also figure out a way to get more air in front of the radiator. I might even do what @Haltech was talking about and throw an oil cooler where the TMIC was.

I am near the tail end of my e-tuning period with Alex at Stratified. What we have discovered is my car consistently loses 20% of its power with a 20 degree outside temperature difference; this is mostly because he had to pull so much timing at the higher temps to prevent KR. My goal is to mitigate this a bit to get better performance in 90F+ temps.

The car's feel is night and day with this power difference. We are talking 20-30hp and 20-30lb/ft of torque difference. It's worth some of my time to see if I can close the gap.

Just wanted to point out that the ECU does start pulling some serious timing when coolant reached ~212.

We had a pretty good thread on this a while back-

Right! Mine even pulls more than that due to KR. At 212F coolant, and 122 BAT, my tune is pulling 3.10 degrees and at 212 coolant/140 BAT, my tune is pulling 4.3 degrees!

Thanks for the link, I am going to read through it.

I just ordered the full 3 aeros from sure. After I got such good gains on the tih, I think there is still some more gains to be had on the intake side.

Results are going to be interesting..

The exhaust cost me $450 at a local shop. Sometimes i wonder why people pay a ton of money for a universal catback when custom setups can be done cheaper and better at a good shop.

Yes you are right it costs less and you can have your own mufflers put on. It is almost the same price as the magnaflow catback for speed6 but yours is 3" to 2.5" for more flow and power. It is too bad the muffler shop is 100 miles away from me or else I would go there to have mine fabricated.

Who buys a 2.5" for their turbo car?

Every bend in your exhaust is an added restriction.

Ahhh, I thought you were comparing the Mandrel bent Magnaflow 2.5" exhaust to the 3" setup I had made. Of course Mandrel Bent is superior. I won't argue that. From what I have read, a comparable mandrel bent exhaust accounts for 3-5% more power over a crush built system.

For all of the states I have been to and all of the exhaust shops I have been in and thinking about all of the exhausts I have had made over the years, I have never once seen a mandrel bender among the shops' compliment of tools. Probably due to the 5-10x cost increase of a mandrel bender + dies over the crush bender setups I reckon. It's gonna take a shop a LOT of exhausts to pay for a $75k tool and a lot of customers willing to pay the premium.

Thanks. These are 225/45R18s. They are just a little taller and wider than stock.

Hello, sorry for asking this but I can't PM you yet. I am going to get the same springs as you have the autoexe lowdown springs, and planning to get some rims and tires. I have my eyes on et48 18x8 rims with 225/45/18 tires. Do you think it will rub in the rear fenders? Since you have similar set-up I was wondering if my set up will be OK. Thanks buddy.

Na, I think you will be good to go with that setup. I am running the MS3 Genpu wheels, 18x7.5" + 52mm offset. I am running 5mm wheel spacers, so that makes my setup 18x7.5 +47mm offset.

Using the wheel offset calculator, an 18x8 +48mm will stick out 5mm more than my setup . I am 99% sure you will be ok and not rub but it will be a little close. At the very worst there would be very, very light rubbing, but wouldn't need a full fender roll.

I am growing tired of the Genpus so I ordered some Drag DR-31s in bronze- 18x8s + 48mm. I really wanted bronze to begin with so I am just getting where I wanted to be when I started for less then I ever payed on my Genpu 'brownze' experiment.

Here's a before/after with a shitty photoshop of the DR-31s on my car. I like them. Weight is pretty much the same as Genpus so this is for looks and a little more offset and width. Hint: Genpus will be up for sale soon.

I have been chasing a mechanical KR issue for a while; I have been getting random mechanical KR pretty much whenever I am doing a 3rd or 4th run and it recently stepped up. I think I isolated it to the AWR RMM I installed about 6 months ago. After some deep searching, I found one of the rear mount bushings was pretty torn up and there was some gouging in the RMMs metal frame from the car's frame mount. I think this was it.

Stock RMM and stock trans mount mod done. I might keep the AWR PMM on, but the rmm and trans mount just had to go. The RMM was torn up due to bad design and the trans mount just caused too high of NVH for me to deal with on a 100 mile/day driver. I am not all too impressed with the AWR mounts personally.

So, I installed the Drag DR31s and only had them on the car for a week. They didn't look right on my car to me...

I sold em to a local Nator guy and they turned out looking amazing on his. Bastard.

So I am back to the Genpus

I did decide to pull out some old Eibach 10mm spacers I had laying around for my old 6 and ordered some ARP +13mm wheel studs, and I am going to bolt them up to kick the wheels out a bit more (currently on JBR +5mm).

Dale, I was gonna text you, but I don't have your number haha

Do you have any sway bars? or other suspension mods other than the Autoexe's?

and Where did you buy the tires and installed at? I remember you telling me but I can't recall. My moms 6 needs new rubber and I remember it was fairly cheap. like $400?

I'll PM you my #. My car is running full stock suspension, shocks/struts included, besides the Autoexe's.

I got those tires at Bear's Tire in Miramar. Ya, $400 did the trick. They are fine for commuting. I had some bad wear on the inside of one of the tires which lead to an issue, but that's on my alignment and not the tire. They also have the Achilles 2233 which seems to be ok.

I was able to dial in some more advance from 5k+ and got a nice flat power curve to redline. What a huge difference that made... Plus I got the boost curve smoothed out a bit.

I put the 10mm eibach spacer I used to have on my 6 on the Speed6 along with some ARP +13mm studs.

I decided imma try to give one more shot at an aftermarket wheel look after the Drags didn't pan out. I saw these on Tire Rack, The TRPerformance C2. TRPerformance is Tire Rack's house brand (TR=Tire Rack) that is manufactured by Enkei. Surprisingly, guys track these and love them. These caught my eye because they are very simple, clean and light. No fancy shit, no fake 2 piece, not dual bolt pattern drilled, not a bunch of spokes, no polished lip, just a clean and simple rim that has been out for a while with happy owners.

Stock GenPu wheels are 24.6 lbs, these weigh 19.2lbs and these C2s are 0.5" wider. Not sure if I will feel the difference in 5.4lbs per corner on my fat Speed6, but its unlikely. These wheels are 18x8 +48, 19.2lbs. They come in silver, black and grey; I opted for the grey. I am going to go back to my 5mm spacers on these, which will kick them out a little more then the Genpus + 10mm Eibachs currently on the car.

Take 2, here goes. Center caps need to go, hoping the Mazda center caps fit + I will run black lugs.

MS3 on the same wheels. They're blocky. I like em.
