Default 2011 MZR Turbo Intake

I would like to upgrade from the stock Turbo Intake (plastic pos) pipe to something better to match up to the BNR s1 turbo, any suggestions? Daily driver, not a track car with no other mods.

The only overwhelming thing here is the retarted amount of intake threads. You literally goto google and type mazdaspeed intake and click on anything.
Jbr 4" intake will fit in the stock location as well as a 4" htp. No tune needed.

There's also a MAF delete option that works with the stock tune.

Yeah, just go for the blow through option and full VTA for full on flamethrower effects.

We want to answer, we really do. But its so hard to when there are so many threads and one very specific one for intake options. And we just don't feel like talking about our intakes. Its boring.

I run CPE silicone and lube it a lot. I'll be installing HTP 3.5" when, and if, I ever install my BNR S3. Shit might blow up before I get to it.

This is about the only thing of real value i can add to this thread:
I also run a silicone intake (JBR 3.5") and I'm just now seeing the downsides to silicone when it comes to fitment. With silicone construction, the walls are pretty close to 1/4" thick. So the total OD of the intake will end up about 3/8" larger than an equivalent metal intake. If your tight for space, this little bit of extra OD can cause all kinds of headaches.

All, I totally apologize for the bitching. I totally took out my personal problems on the thread which deserves me a proverbial bitch slap! This forum contains an incredible amount of great info of which my illiterate ass needs to go through. Again, my deepest apologies for the stupidity. I come back from base to the smokin’ turbo and started the tearddown for replacement and realized I need to develop a far-better game plan if any mods are to be made. You guys have awesome play-by-play threads on how to do this and many other repair/mods!!! Thank you all and sorry, I deserve the thrashing!

I totally understand! I have to admit, coming up from working on the ‘69 Olds I had as well as a few late model Fox bodies, this is a totally different animal as far as working on goes-very tight for space-especially at the exhaust manifold lower 14 mm nuts and the 8 mm heat shield nuts that I seem to have a knack for rounding off. My job consists of building turboshafts for the heavy-lifts but this is proving to be difficult!

There you go bitching again....kidding.

Yes, we all wish that we sometimes could exchange our big man sized mitts for little Chinese lady hands to get at some fasteners. But with a lot of creativity there isn't anything that has proved impossible to do on this car. Except bending stock rods and venting the block.

Tell me about it. There are some tight spots and being in New England, 90% of my heatshield 8mm’s are basically seized in place but doing the work is totally worth it. I have had the car since new and never had any issues until recently at the 123k mark so shouldn’t complain! But still do!
