Default CP-E TC3 ECU Swap for gen 2

Here is what I got back in an email from CP-E
"Flashes for 2010 may never come out as we believe in a whole replacement
ecu. —The TC3 ecu swap is almost ready to go. —About 6 mo. off most likely."
Price should be around $900 to $1100

Taken from gencoupe.com: (looks like cp-e has some nice shit coming out for the genisis)

http://www.gencoupe.com/2-0t/27338-c...hats-come.html

Standalone:

The name we gave it is TC3 - TC stands for Total Control and the 3 is because its the 3rd generation of our engine management systems.

Its a completely new product designed ground up. Like all other engine management solutions we offer - its made and designed in house with proprietary hardware and software.

Not revealing much just yet but a few things:

- Standalone - full control - in the full meaning of those words

- Plug and Play - take your factory ECU out, put on shelf and put ours in and go. OEM like compatibility with full control.

- Complete End-user tunability

- Full datalogging capabilities

- Expansion capabilities: meth injection control, addntl injector control, etc..

- …and of course more

So, if you got this, no need for the standback, right? When the warranty is up, these guys may get a call from me.

Definitely no need for a stand back. TC3 is a ecu replacement. It becomes your ecu.

When you pull a stock ECU and replace it, can a dealer or someone else figure out it was removed when you swap it back to stock?

This should be interesting. A PNP standalone in a modern CAN based vehicle is not too simple.

It's a fucking standalone...why would you want to pull it out or make it undetectable. If you want to stay good for the dealer visits stick with a Cobb AP or the standback. This is for the guys that have long since thrown their warranty out the window.

Me personally, I'd take it to the dealer and watch the Mazda techs look around in confusion as they try to figure out why they can't flash the ECU.

This is badass, definitly going to be looking forward to this bitch coming out!

"Plug and Play - take your factory ECU out, put on shelf and put ours in and go. OEM like compatibility with full control."

This makes me think we'll be taking our factory ecu out and replacing it with the TC3, or am I misunderstanding something here?

Me personally, I'd take it to the dealer and watch the Mazda techs look around in confusion as they try to figure out why they can't flash the ECU.
LOL You'd want to pull it out if for some reason you need to stock out for warranty issues. Even the standback also requires a bit of uninstallation with the PNP (10 minutes wrestling with those obscured ECU clips) . I have a bunch of mods on my car and no matter how cool my dealer is about them, I'm not about to take my car in for service with a standback in the engine bay. So far I've had 1 visit where I've removed the SB and PNP and gonna roll into my second one in a few weeks.

My point is that untill I'm at the point of going BT, there's no reason I can't retain my warranty even with the standalone. I would think it is undetectable simply because it IS a drop in replacement and if I put my stock ECU in before a dealer visit how are they to know I had the standalone? Hell, the dealer probably knows I have a standback just by looking at the velcro strips on my engine bay fuse box. LOL!

This makes me think we'll be taking our factory ecu out and replacing it with the TC3, or am I misunderstanding something here?
Yeah, that's the interesting part. ESPECIALLY for us guys with a tech package (advanced keyless entry), I always thought the ECU was encoded for your individual car. We'll see how that one plays out.

Yea, I really like keyless entry and start, it's the best! I'm thinking CP-E decided to simply axe trying to tune our stock ecu's due to all the extra restrictions implemented on the 2010 models, so instead, just give it an entirely aftermarket one. Anyone else think this too?

First of all, this isnt going to be for exhaust/intake cares. the standback works well for that already. This is going to be for cars with big turbos, going for alot more power.

If your concerned with keeping your warranty, IMO your not ready for something like this. This is a standalone EMS. it just happens to plug right in.

If the ecu is encoded, and you remove the ecu, you remove the immobilizing system. when i talked to lou, it was his intention to retain most if not all "creature comforts", but remember, its a standalone EMS, none of the other standalones do, so if this does, it will be a big bonus.

i think you get stupid of the month. standalone(especially pnp) is not just for the "big boys". it makes it 100% convenient and actually eliminates most of the things that i dont like about the SB. As far as using the AP, mazda can detect when the ecu was flashed, so even when removing the ap, it leaves evidence.

what if that convenience comes at the loss of some of your features? like your keyless entry, or other things.

it is a standalone. they are making it cheap and plug and play, which makes it reachable to anyone who would buy an AP, but does that mean its right for everyone? not likely.

I know Lou was going to try to maintain all features of the stock ecu, but i doubt its a priority.

If there are functions that dont work, that would have to be taken into consideration. Although if they cant get keyless entry to work, what about the windows or any other electronic function? I dont see people converting to manual crank windows. I'm probably just wasting my breath anyway since there is no mention of 1st gen's.....FAIL

Um... when did it become fact that it wasn't for the first gen?

Honest question too. Did cp-e specifically say that? IMO it wouldn't take much more work to adapt it over to the first gen (assuming it's being developed on a second gen).

yea, basically, its all the same sensors, so youd just have to scale them if they were scaled differently on the gen2. you may have to wire it in yourself, but either way its the only disi standalone option in the near future.

The most difficult port of a standalone would be to the ms6, cause it's awd. And i'm 99% sure that awd, in itself, introduces significantly more CAN bus activity than on the 3's, and would require the stand alone to work in harmony with those processes.

It could probably still be done without too much pain, but would take much more effort than porting from one gen 3 to the other.
