Default SWIFT SPRINGS... PROTOTYPE IN THE WORKS

Prototype in the works!
I spoke with swift springs. If we get enough interest they will produce springs for the ms3. so this thread is to see who would be interested. I would appreciate keeping replies only from people that don't have springs yet or people that are not satisfied with their current aftermarket springs and want something better. If you don't know who swift please google it or check out their website Swift Springs USA and you will find that they are not your ordinary company. They don't make lowering springs! These are light weight (less coils) linear performance springs made to to improve performance and ride over looks. They do still give it a drop. It will depend during R&D to what degree as they produce springs to work with oem valving. They have "sport springs" and Spec-R". Spec-R being the more track oriented but still highly streetable. Both can be used with aftermarket/performance struts with better results. They also publish spring rates. Only other company i can think of on top my head that does that is Tanabe, but they use progressive springs.

i will update once I get more info back from them. For know this is interest only. I will fwd this thread and the one from gen1 section to them if this becomes big enough. Just as side note. Swift springs typically do cost more but not bad. Street/vendor prices are $280-$320.

Here are the actual posts that describes the differences

MINI COOPER :: North American Motoring - Swift Springs dynoed

How to Finally Get Performance Out of Your KW Coilovers - E46Fanatics

Here are the reviews for other vehicles:

Swift springs reviewed!!!!! - Nissan 370Z Forum

Swift Sport Springs Review thread (pics) - Unofficial Honda FIT Forums

Swift Spec R - 2008 EVO X Review/Install/Pics - EvoXForums.com - Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X Forums

Swift Springs long term review. - evolutionm.net

GREAT NEWS... SWIFT IS GOING TO START ON A PROTOTYPE for the gen2 MS3!!!.. PLEASE still keep responding if you are interested.. This way they if they need to change or make even the their sport springs to accommodate all MS3/MZ3 they can with the types of responses.
check them out on Swift Springs | Facebook

I would like to say I am interested, but I'll end up buying something before this becomes a reality.

Interested in seeing how it turns out though

They told me once I get interest forwarded to them and management agrees to go through with it R&D time is 40 days. They said it wont take long for the product to be on the market.

I want it!

I don't want to lower my car but want to improve my handling a little bit.

Swift is a great brand.

I spoke to the owner of swift yesterday. He told me they were considering it in the past for the gen1 plateform but they stopped since there was not enough interest< which i knew aready.
Also according to him it takes on average 3-4 months (give or take) from start to finish to get the springs out. Now with the tsunami that hit Japan its probabaly going to be longer. Their head engineer their comes up with 3-4 sets of springs for the car. They do testing on a J-spec version of course. Once they feel comfortable optimium performance is met they send their 3-4 sets out to Swift USA. They get tested here and if it needs minor corrections it will be sent back. If one of the sets they tested are good to go then they start production.
Right now I don't there is enough interest. I will wait 1-3 weeks and see where it goes. I don't think waiting 6-8 months is long if your intentions are to go strut/spring combo. If you can't wait I say go with KW or mazdaspeed (kw) cause nothing seems good enough to consider now. for me atleast

Once I get 2-3 pages of legitmate interest I will go back to them. Please don't clog up this post with BS. I really want some good springs for this car. If you have any specific question just ask and i will fwd it to them and get an answer back.

Keep it coming.

This is great. Keep on coming with the interests. I spoke to Swift again and it seems like from what they have been reading on this forum they will produce spec-R springs for our cars if the interest level is decent. below is a portion of what I received from swift personally. Its great info (comparisons and reviews)..

"These are just simple reviews for lowering springs plus a pretty educational post by one of our friends on the differences between our springs and competitors.

Here are the actual posts that describes the differences

Here are the reviews for other vehicles:

I won't have money to get any springs anytime soon so 3 to
4 months will be perfect.

I'm in.

Very interested if they allow a slight drop (<1" or so) and work with koni fsd's.

I know you're not supposed to drop with fsd's, but I figure if you have a stiffer spring, you have less of a chance of bottoming out. Plus, according to the suspension guys, rebound damping does most of the work, so stiffer springs with a either no drop or a very slight one would be exactly what I'm looking for.

edit: Just read they're out of japan? If so I don't think 4 months is a realistic time frame. At any rate though, I'm still 100% interested.

I read on koni's website that eibachs are approved for the FSD's. Im sure its cause of the conservative drop and not the stiffness..so i think swift will work since it will be a similiar drop most likely.. also they are known to provide greater stroke on the strut/shock over the competitors(cause they use less coils and are linear springs).

Those are for the regular 3. Isn't there a post in this thread about that? At any rate, koni makes that set (which has the 4040s) for the regular 3 instead of the ms3. As you know, the ms3 comes from the factory lower than the regular 3.

For gen 2, the shocks/struts we need are the 2100-4039 fsd's which are designed for....

The volvo s40/v50. Not exactly a ground hugger. Just happens to have the same tabs we have in the rear so everything bolts right up instead of needing custom fabrication.

There's a suspension engineer for koni who's a member here (Lee) - he advises against lowering the car with fsd's, but said that we might be able to get away with a less than 1" drop.

That is why I want swift springs to make a set for the fsd's, especially if their springs keep close to stock ride height. If spec R's drop more than 1", it'll be a lot tougher to make the decision to buy them, as I'm gonna need yellows instead.

weird I could of sworn i read it was for the ms3 when i posted that..but i checked the website and i can't find anything on it saying eibachs are approved anymore ..not even for the MZ3..

We just have to wait and see what they come up with.. it might end up working for the FSD's... spec-R typically do lower it more from reading their spec sheet..
they are going to keep me in the loop so hopefully once they find out the optimum drop they can tell me so I let people here know

Well depending on how much they lower the ride, they might or might not work with the fsd's, which require a lot of travel to work properly (from what I've heard).

If the drop is gonna be over 1", then you'll have to get koni yellows b/c chances are they'll blow up your fsd's (i.e. fsd's will bottom out) - that's coming from a post Lee made IIRC

I've heard it's really beneficial to design a spring and strut together - are these gonna be for stock dampers, or something aftermarket like koni yellows?

Yellows wouldn't be ideal for what I want, but they are adjustable, so I could live with it I suppose. It's just the fsd's valving and design require a lot of travel, so we wouldn't be able to fit them with the swift springs if they drop more than 1" or so.

FWIW, a lot of gen 1 guys have fsd's - I know they'd for sure be interested in getting some springs that work with the fsd valving/ride height. Just a thought.

bump.. I know gen2 springs are in the works already but if are interested (or just even like the fact someone else cares to make MS3 springs) just "like" their post on SWIFT SPRINGS facebook fan site about them starting on MS3 springs.Swift Springs | Facebook . They just started it up so the more "like" they get for the MS3 the faster they might work on getting this out to us..
