(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Opinions? Thanks for the input. BTW, its not about the money at all and Stratified is fantastic at what they do, but I also do not mind doing it myself and learning more about the Cobb software.

| Unless you're running something significantly larger than a K04, there's really not much point in having an intake with an ID of 3". You'll lose MAF sensor granularity, and your car's drivability at low load/low revs will suffer. Think of it this way: Stock Intake: 2.5" ID --> 4.91 sq.in. cross section. Aftermarket : 3.0" ID --> 7.07 sq.in. cross section. JBR TRU-3.5": --> 3 ---> 9.62 sq.in. cross section. That's a 44% increase for a 3.0"ID, and a 96% increase for a 3.5", but the K04 can only efficiently make use of a little over 300g/s of air. On the stock intake the top end of the MAF curve (5.0V) sits at about 366g/s. On a JBR 3.0" intake, that would be about 500g/s, and on the 3.5", it would be nearly 680g/s.

| It's actually better to do the $25 retune since you can't change the locked tune anyways. And I run a 3.5" JBR right meow. I don't have any drivability issues at low revs/idle. I like to go to straight to the "end game" intake since I'll be upgrading the turbo later on. sent from my Nexus 6P

| Not Ranked : 0 score I would absolutely go with a bigger intake no matter what turbo is on. There are gains to be had even on a k04. And you wont need to change the intake when/if you go with a bigger turbo. The cs + k04 setup makes alot of spool-up noise, so going to a silicone intake will make it less noisy. My gtx + cpe intake was far less noisy than k04 + cs s2. But the gtx is also a much quiter turbo, sadly. I'm throwing in my new Freektune 4" metal intake now which should hopefully result in more flow and noise, also looks better. Less resistance in the intake tract could make your turbo overboost slightly at spool-up, so a small calibration might be needed but you'll find that out quickliy Go for it

I am going to go to a BNR S3 later, so I thought I would upgrade intakes now to get ahead of the game. I figured that the $25 update was the way to go, but it never hurts asking everyone what their experience has been. Thanks.

| Not Ranked : 0 score When selecting your intake make sure you take in to consideration the inlet size of the turbo you think you will upgrade to. I know you said S3, however if you are like me, you will change your mind 1000x about your turbo choice. Honestly, I would hold off on the larger intake until you upgrade the turbo. That way you know for sure what intake will work with your turbo selection.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I didn't plan on full silicone. I want to be able to change the adapter at the turbo end. That way upgrading turbos will not require yet ANOTHER intake.
Sound advice, its just hard when you have a little money burning a hole in your pocket. Lol.

| Not Ranked : 0 score The jbr silicone 3" will fit over a s3. I ordered my s2 worried it wouldn't stretch to the s3 size but slipped over the s2 without a hitch. 3" is more than enough. Ask your mom
