(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Ok, So It seems I have had problem after problem with this engine build. I thought I was finally over the worst and ready to put it together completely. Only after I had my oil pan on and everything tight I noticed whats in these pictures. The clearance at the top is almost touching the cradle, and at the bottom its damn near 1/8 an inch! I don't know whats going on, Ive gone back at re-seated all the bearings, looked at the crank, everything I could imagine. I'm using .25 oversized bearings because I had a spun bearing and had to have a machine shop do some work on the block. Did they somehow screw up the work on the block or something? I dont even know what they could have got wrong!!! I'm at a total loss here, anybodys help is super appreciated. Last edited by Lucid; 11-14-2018 at 12:53 PM. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I didn't snag any pics of my build to compare. I wish I had enough knowledge to confidently say, "if there's no contact, send it."

| Not Ranked : 0 score not sure if you ask about the engine rack against the crank in the pictures or the crank against the bloc. For the rack, i had to install some shim with longer bolts for mine to clear the flywheel. I don't see how machining a crank could make it seat differently from left to right, you don't works against the side but usually just regrind smaller 1 part and most of the time isn't a main but a rod bearing that worn out so it has nothing to do with crank alignement....Unless you did something wrong with the thrust bearing and even there, you would probably not be able to put the other caps on the crank itself....??? i will compare with the one i have in the garage this week end. Maybe is just because it miss the rear seal frame and look too much out... And it is the original crank from it's own bloc ? Not a ford crank or something ? And did you plasti-gage your new bearings just to confirm the machining job against bearing itself?

| Not Ranked : 0 score Does the crank spin freely in the block? Did you gauge the bearing clearances? Did you measure crank end play?

| Not Ranked : 0 score Ditto. I'd assume if the crank spins free and has proper end play....send it.
