(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score After running lean at idle and having a boost leak i have determined one of the areas i am having a problem with is the vacuum cap on the intake manifold. I guess after almost 3 years and 55k miles the rubber cap has had it. Before i run to the autoparts store and throw a generic rubber vacuum cap on there does anybody make anything better, like a silicon cap? I believe it is a 5/8" vacuum cap.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I used a very short length of 5/8 ID oil & fuel resistant hose, with an old 3/8 to 1/4 ratchet adapter to plug the hose end...secured everything with 2 worm clamps

| Not Ranked : 0 score You can find silicone vacuum caps on eBay. I've had one on the bottom port of my K04 wastegate for a year now and it seems to hold up pretty darn well to the heat. Downside though is Silicone isn't very resistant to Oil vapor so the aforementioned line with a plug may work better. They also have PCV hose that is designed for exactly this purpose which should give you a very long life.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Not trying to thread Jack but what symptoms were you having? Were you still hitting target AFR or not? What did your trims look like? I think I might have the same issue. Edit 8/7/16 While changing the oil today I checked my cap, it's already cracking really bad but no leaks. I've only had the catch can about 3 months. I'll email Corksport tomorrow. Maybe they should switch to silicone caps? Last edited by BLKspd5; 08-07-2016 at 11:21 PM. |
