Default Ultimate Racing CBE

Ok, I'll admit that I'm a noob at this point in my modding career and I have a very basic question about the Ultimate Racing CBE and any other aftermarket CBE for that matter that may come out. What are the main benefits to installing this? Besides a throatier exhaust note potentially? There are no real power gains to be had from my knowledge unless you add the DP/TP with it, right? Let me know what I'm missing gearheads!

So maybe CBE with DP? DP would give some pretty good gains from what I've seen but damn that's expensive.

i have a cbe on my gen 1. better looks, maybe. better sound yes. power wise= not much if anything. I think maybe i spool 1 rpm sooner. but for me it made the car mine and custom. i love looking at my exhaust and wouldnt change it. but a dp will kill the cbe in power and not to mention the dp with cat is the same price~ as cbe. give or take 100 and who you get. if you plan to do exhaust eventually do it. but if you just want raw cheap power dp and leave stock alone.

Unless you're a dyno, 5hp isn't noticeable and not worth $500.

Exhaust note is worth $500 though.

Damn, I sure would like both. My mods would be complete or just about engine wise. SRI, DP, CBE would be plenty then I could focus on an aftermarket front fender and LED tail lights.

The DP/RP will still change the sound. get that and leave the stock cbe, like said above.

Would a DP with a SRI require any type of tune? No CEL lights either right?

No cat in the DP will cause a cel, so it depends what DP you go with. And depending on your location and how cold it gets by you in the winter the combo of a DP and SRI can cause fuel cut/load cut without a tune.

The difference between a high flow cat and no cat is minimal. a few HP, nothing that you will even feel. Just get the catted DP.

Catted DP = more money, less hp, possibility of still triggering a CEL
Catless DP = less money, more hp, possibility of triggering a CEL.

To me it boils down to cost....

I would go for Catless...

Hey so, I wonder which CBE is less restrictive. I noticed the UR one seems to have split into two smaller mufflers, and the CP-E one is using a single large muffler (like stock)

Here are pics, opinions on which might be the better design and why? (I know nothing about physics or flow dynamics or any of that crap =)

CP-E CBE

UR CBE

I would get that exhaust in a heartbeat but I am afraid once my car goes back to the dealer they'll void my warranty. I think that twin muffler set up looks sick!

To figure out which was less restrictive you'd really need to put them on a flow bench. In theory the one with the least amount of bends or change in flow direction and most volume would be the least restrictive. (It's been a few years since my Fluid Dynamics classes!)

My guess would be the UR one. Straight through muffler design and minimal bends.
