are you using pg clamps? i think i remember you saying cx's clamps were weak. if so how are the pg clamps. they seem kinda pricey. i was looking at the clamps on treadstones sight, wonder if they're any good.

Ebay t-bolt clamps have lasted longer then the CX ones. I think I paid $30 for 12, I have wrenched them off an on a couple times and still look brand new while holding strong.

no cutting to the piping kit at all. Impact bar is being welded as we speak and I should have it mounted before the weekend is over. Just had the stock impact bar cut to fit the TR8 and have mounting tabs added.

would be interested in pics of the crash bar and what you had done to the IC before installed to get an idea of what to do and then the after pics as well

Basically he is taking a 1 1/2" x 26" chunk out of the center/bottom of the impact bar. I will post some pics up tho..

May I ask why you are switching to the TR8 core? I just got the Godspeed Core, and am about to order the PG Piping, and get this put in. Do you feel the TR8 has some big advantages over the Godspeed? Damn, as I just got it delivered to my house like last Friday. GRRRRR! Your thoughts are appreciated!

@JTMS3, any big difference over the godspeed ic vs the treadstone?

Only reason asking is because i run a big cxracing ic and i see about 20* give or take a few over ambient.

Yes, cooler BATs & just seems to pull smoother since there is less of a pressure drop. My GS core would be in the 25-30* above IATs during WOT pulls. Now I see 10-15* during WOT pulls & right at 15-20* above after cruising for long periods of time.

Don't get me wrong the GS core was better then the CX kit that I paid almost 2x more for but yes I do feel a difference between the GS vs TR8. Unless you are prepared to buy/fabricate a new impact bar or take a chunk out of your stocker the TR8 will not work. I tried everything I could to make it fit without modding the bar but it just wasn't happening.

I know what you mean grasshoppa. When you have gone through a aftermarket TMIC, the CX racing FMIC kit, GS core+ piping then you will be at my level of fail.

If you mean the TR8 core you are going to have to hack up the stock bar. I had flat plate added for support and also for the brackets to mount the core too. Here is a pic of the stock bar after the mod..

@JTMS3, i dont remember if it was you that were interested in the crash bar i have, but i now haz a tow hook with my custom crash bar. But good job with your crash bar, i was going to do that but just in case i ever sell the car i want it to be back to factory standards.

Yeah that tow hook was the reason I said fuck it and hacked up the stock bar. Not to mention a replacement stock bar is $100 if I trade it in or sell it. I only paid $50 to have the adjustments made so between that and the cost of a new bar I figured that is at least what I would be out for a custom bar that wouldn't have had the tow hook.

Thats the stock bpv in the pic but currently I have the HKS and was using the Forge v1 before that.

same here. I love the sound vs the forge and am dealing with the backfires. I realized I was only get them when the car is idling for longer periods of time otherwise I don't even get them.
