Default Accessport mounting

Hello my homies!

I am going to be a proud owner of an AP pretty soon - but I am wondering if anyone has suggestions for mounting it. I want to mount it to the left of the steering wheel since on the right I already have a pretty snazzy cell phone mount for my iPhone (which I use for music, GPS, etc).

Anyone has suggestions / examples of their work?

Thanks!

I'm using industrial strength velcro. Put it on the empty spot just above where the DSC on/off button is. And I wrapped up the cord and zip tied it so that it wasn't going everywhere and put it inside that little open spot where the OBD2 sensor plug-in goes.

I like the velcro option... I dont really want it at the middle of the dash - I Think its ruins the aesthetics and besides, I want all the airflow to be on me!

Yea I went with the velcro thing for now too. I put it to the right of the steering wheel, just behind the wiper selector. Actually tucks it pretty nice with just the screen visible to be at a glance. Plus I can take it out without any issues.

So far so good.

I just ordered my JBR AP mount. Should be here monday or tue. Can't wait. I already ran the cord for my AP behind steering wheel and center console for a clean look. Maybe I'll post some pics when it comes in.

Its a bit pricey but Its one of the best options out there.

Related question: Is there a way to turn off the AP when the car is off, other than unpluging the cable?

i.e. a timer setting would be nice.

Arkon SM410 Universal Mount $13.06 on
Amazon.comAmazon.com
. Gives you two mounting options...

Windshield Mount

Vent Mount

I'm really happy with the build quality and value of this mount (it doesn't look like some cheap PepBoys/AutoZone shit)...it's totally worth the $13.

This is the best mount I found for $10 at the local Pepboys. Its perfect, the AP doesn't move at all and the gap for the cord to plug in is perfect.

Yet another AP mounting scheme-

Some advantages of this approach are:

1. Direct sight-line from the driver's eye to the AP- no hazardous look-down needed.
2. Mount is firm enough to operate AP buttons easily, without buckling.
3. Does not block view out the windshield, or use of any vent, switch, or gauge.
4. Can be mounted on either side of the instrument pod, according to preference.
5. Suction-cup mount is versatile, moveable, and doesn't mar the mounting surface.

(Brand name is Scosche; available from Wal-Mart for ~$25.)
