Google Play Music worked for me, displayed pretty much everything. I want to get the Spotify App to work though because that is what I mainly use now. BTW, i have a GS3 also.

I know a few older players wouldn't work - back when I had the Bionic (gingerbread) the API for this seemed pretty proprietary...or something. I don't believe Pandora supports it.

Google Play Music didn't work on either music played from the cloud or locally stored music. Music should be tagged properly. It shows up on the properties of the files and they were tagged just like everything else in my home music library.

Frustrating that it doesn't work. I guess I can try Apollo.

Just test drove a 2013 with an iPhone 5 and everything displays. Well Pandora and Spotify and music videos on phone.

Just picked up a new iPod Nano to replace a shuffle I've been using. Paired BT and now get track title, artist, and album displayed on the "gps" screen. 2011 MS3 tech.

I know It's been awhile since this thread has been active, but for your information. The Samsung Galaxy S4 work great with bluetooth audio display.. Even the radio controls on steerinf wheel work with it.

What year is your car? Tech package?

I haven't been able to display anything on my screen via Bluetooth. It really isn't a bother as the place that I have my phone mounted makes it a fairly moot point, but I would be curious to get it to work.

I had the s4 and it didnt display on bluetooth and wouldnt connect with usb.somi took it back and got a iphone 5.it wont display bluetooth but it works well with usb.

I'll throw my 2cents in. I have a 2012 techy. The only info I can get when streaming audio from phone is from google music. Nothing shows with pandora, di radio or anything else for that matter. Bummer but nothing we can do about it, that i know of.

I'm hoping the next apple iphone or update for it includes this functionality....i really dont like having to glance down at my iphone while driving to see metadata. that should be conveniently displayed in our gps screen

True but I'm confused by this. Why is it Google music can do this but other apps can not. Is it because they have the ability to cache information were as the other apps don't? Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Yes I have tech. The info shows up on my navi screen but only for Google play music. No other app will display the info.

Same here...Google Play is the only app that currently does this.

I'm guessing this doesn't work on the 2010 models, because I have never been able to get anything to display there. It has the heading that says "BT Audio", but no song/artist information.

I've tried music stored locally on the phone, streamed from my library, and Google Music's radio stations. All to no avail with a Galaxy S3.

Oh well. My phone is mounted in nearly that same line of sight, so it isn't a big deal. Just thought it would have been neat to get it to work.

Use Google Music to play songs stored locally on your phone. Should work.

I use PowerAmp to play music on my Galaxy S3 and it shows artist, album and track info on the display in the dash of 2012 with tech, it even has a nice EQ built into the app. The only draw back is the songs started pausing when skipping if the phone is locked so I have to keep the phone unlocked or hit play after every time I skip a track. Once they fix that I will be a happy camper when it comes to music in the car.

Until I see another 2010 without the Tech package post that they have been successful, I'm going to chalk it up to being something that wasn't supported until a later model year.

Here is a screenshot of what I was playing and a pic of what my display looks like. The song I played was just transferred to my phone and has all of the fancy metadata loaded.

What ROM are you running? Any aftermarket ROM running Android 4.2 or later no longer supports AVRCP 1.3. Google changed the bluetooth stack and it still hasn't been a priority on the people who put these ROMs together. This is the reason I'm still on CM10, instead of 10.1 with my Galaxy Nexus, until I get my S4 back.

Also with it only working with Apollo and Google Play Music, it has to be built into the app from the developer. Spotify has never had this feature on Android unless it has changed in the past couple of months.

I'm on The People's ROM (Sprint).

It is running Android 4.1.2. It is so close to stock that I've never considered it to be the cuplrit for anything (and it hasn't, thus far), but I suppose I could look in to it.

I'll see if the developer has any thoughts. Would a stock S3 on 4.1.2 work?

Got a little surprise yesterday on my way home form work. Pandora is now displaying song info on the little navi screen. Apparently it had everything to do with the app considering there were a few updates in the past week or two and one update on the way home yesterday. The only thing, it seems to be a bit buggy. Sometimes it would switch song info to the next song that plays but sometimes it would not. I do let my phone screen time out and when I would wake up the phone the song info would update immediately. Like I said sometimes it would update without waking the phone sometimes it would not. Hopefully they can figure that out but hey, at least we know our cars can do it! YEAH!!!!

My 2011 non-tech model shows the song information on the screen. The phones that I've tested it with are the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4, but with an HTC device I had no luck getting anything to show.

Android 4.3 changed bluetooth stacks. It now works for me in both SoundCloud and Google Music, using CarbonRom.

How long has yours been showing? I've had a S3 since launch and only until the last couple updates from Pandora (last two weeks) has it shown the info and I only noticed the song info yesterday.

I don't think it was android considering I'm on 4.1.2 (Verizon).

Mine has worked right from the moment I bought the phone August 2012 (Galaxy S3) and S4 since launch. However, I've been using the built in samsung music player.

Dude I've gone back and forth about rooting forever now but I'm good with touch whiz and the phone just works, finally. Every other phone I've had before this there was always something. GNexus, htc incredible, rezound. I think android has finally figured it out. And there is no 1 click root, I gotta download all that other shit and do this and do that. Unless you know of a way I haven't found yet.

Flashing Roms is generally as simple as having TWRP (My recovery of choice) and using GooManager to download/install everything for you. Times have changed a bit, but for most AOSP roms you need the Rom and Gapps separately to have full functionality.

I plan on getting the Note 3 whenever it comes out (should be announced tomorrow, I think). I believe that will be on Android 4.3 and will hopefully solve my problem.

Unrooting the Galaxy S3 here shortly to pass it on to my wife.

As I mentioned above, Pandora now shows song info on my little navi screen but here are the issues I'm encountering after almost a months time.

-About 90% of the time the song info does not change along with the song. Only way to remedy this is to wake the phone up and only then does it change song info, immediately I might add. Once the phones screen times out then the last thing shown on the navi screen stays on there.

-When an advertisement comes on it shows that an advert. Is playing, every time.

I re-paired my phone to the car to no avail. When it works I love it and the song info changes immediately with the songs, unfortunately this isn't the case most of the time.
Does anyone have any advise to fix this issue? Thx in advance!

Hi all,

I'm from aus and drive a 2009 Mazda 3 Mps.
The reason why it won't show on the earlier model gen 2's is ba cause of the Bluetooth module which sits behind the glove box. I found out this info from a guy on the ozmps forum.

I believe they had issues with the earlier Bluetooth modules and were replaced in late 2010. Anyway, so I bought a Bluetooth module from a 2012 Mazda 3 from the wreckers, threw it in and now my bt audio ddisplays all track info and even from apps like Pandora and spotify. I also have a hHTC one connected.

It never really bothered me that it didn't have info but when I found out what the issue it I knew I May aswell fix it...
