They didn't do that when I had to send my GM5163 I got for this car, back about a year ago. My gf bought it, not sure if it was the actual EONON site or not. CD got stuck in there 2 days after I installed it. She emailed them about the problem and within an hour they had responded and sent a prepaid label for us to ship it back. She didn't have to provide any information of our order.

Also, to anyone who gets this unit. Do yourself a favor, read up on this thread. Will make the unit even better after installing upgraded firmware/rom/etc... - HuiFei - 2 DIN Pure Android 4.2.2/4.4.2/4.4.… | Android Development and Hacking | XDA Forums

Just wanted to double check since on their site they say 32GB maximum, that is just for the SD card slot right, you are actually using a 128GB USB drive for all of your music with out any issues? Are you able to play movies from it also? Does the radio lights adjust with your headlights? I've read a few complaints about them staying on all the time and the screen not dimming. I've also read about issues with not being able to lock doors with the keyfob for a period of time after shutting off the car. Have you had any issue like that?

Got it yesterday, just connected it, played around with it for a bit, then threw a custom 4.4.2 on there. So much quicker, responsive overall. Haven't really done anything else to it yet. Going to head out and finish connecting/placing everything in a little bit.

I installed it yesterday, the bottom of my air vents are sticking out a little so it looks like I'll have to pull out the panel and the HU and try to realign everything. Kind of a pain. Other than that, once I get all the software set up to my liking this will definitely be a good buy.

Ok, I must be stupid also, because I can't get my sub working with just the headunit and attachments. I had to use the PAC and hook that up in between the OEM wiring and 5163 wiring. Which, while it works, is more wiring and stuff than I would like sitting behind the headunit.

So who can show me why I'm an idiot that can't get a simple sub/amp working. Amp is fine and turns on, I just get no response from the sub. Throw the PAC in between and everything is fine...

What's wrong with having that much wiring? Just stuff it out of the way as much as possible.

I'm having a new problem, my front passenger speakers are only playing at half the loudness of the others. Its not the HU's fault, I tested the other outputs. Any idea what would cause reduced volume?

Well I fixed the speaker problem, just needed to reconnect the harness. Unfortunately I've found a single dead pixel on my screen. Anybody else have any? I hate dead pixels but I can probably deal with it.

I don't want all that extra wiring back there because the SWC don't work with both connected, and too much noise from plastic hitting metal/other plastic.

How is the amp connected to the HU? The sub out RCA cable?

Right now I have it connected to the PAC device in-between the headunit cabling & OEM wiring. Everything is working right now, had to flash a different rom, the one i flashed didn't have swc working correctly. The sub also works with the way it is right now, but eh...

When I had it connected with just the headunit, I had it connected to the rear out L/R. I am going to have to get a Y cable I guess because the sub-out on this one is a single RCA connection. I feel like an idiot because I'm sure it's something minor I'm missing. Yes I have the remote wire for the amp hooked up also.

Which ROM are you all using? There appear to be a plethora of ROMs listed for different model numbers.

Got my unit upgraded to 4.4.4. Setting the DPI in the build.prop file to 180 makes everything a lot nicer.

Ok, so no matter what I tried, I could not get my sub working with this headunit wiring only. Tried rear out/sub out/aux out, nothing. Remote wire hooked up, amp turns on, but nothing happening with the sub. Hook up the MAZ PAC device in between, and connect the sub there, everything is perfect.

So anyone else who isn't using just the bose system have this wired up and working with a different amp/sub?

Same here, I never got one the last time I ordered the GM5163... I'm not going to pay it either.

Well, i guess the downside is that although the shipping is free, the duty isn't.

Which rom did you go with?

Mine is set to arrive Monday and that pretty much the first thing I am going to do once I verify it works out of the box. So far I've seen 4 roms, each with their own issues. (for Kitkat 4.4.4)

I'm going to pick up an External mic for this unit as well as I've seen the horror stories on xda about it.

I haven't had issues with the mic.

FileMirror for HuiFei-Units

Grab whatever device yours is. Settings -> About Device will show you what 3 letter variant you have. I think mine was KDL.

I went back to the 240 dpi since the bluetooth apps and radio apps didn't look correct with the smaller dpi.

I'm going to give Malaysk's roms a shot since they appear to be kept more up to date.

Have to solder in rca jacks for it to work. see above posts.
I'm going to try to document my install as well this week if I have time to actually install mine in my 2012 W/Bose. (Came saturday, a day earlier than expected.. I was just up a mountain riding all weekend)

Edit:
Was thinking of the GM thread..
Here are the install pics from that thread

I have a 2013 w/ bose, but also have a PAC MAZ device for the sub I was running like @g00s3y; I'll try to disconnect this weekend and see if the sub still works. Everything works fine with the bose amp etc. etc.

the phone buttons? I’ve read the thread a few times and have seen elsewhere that some phone functions do not work, I daily drive and wheel controls for the phone are pretty important.

thank you.

Phone buttons also work. The headunit comes with an OEM integration box. The software also has an app to allow for button mappings / learning. Additionally this is the only headunit I've ever had work with phonebook syncing.

How did you get the Phone pickup and Hangup buttons to work? Canbus box is hooked up, all others work except this. Even Eonon has said the phone buttons do not work.

Ok, so i'm sending my unit back. No matter what, if my car sits for a day, the battery is dead. The sub out would not work no matter what, had to have the PAC in between. I updated the MCU and firmware, and was able to get the wifi to start working because that wasn't working from the start. I also noticed that the fader really doesn't work, I could put it all the way to the rear, and still full volume from the front speakers.

I've checked everything, and have come to the conclusion that it's the headunit, I'm just guessing I got a dud. I tried different roms/kernels and nothing got it all to work correctly.I put the stock one back and everything is fine, put the 5163 in, car is dead the next morning.

That $350 will now go towards the big turbo fund.

So now we know, if you want this radio don't buy the cheap one from eBay.

They are all the same, coming out of the same factory in china. Then whoever gets them, puts their own touch on it and sells it.

I also gave a low offer, not expecting them to accept $350, and also think I got a returned unit because of that. Based upon the fact there were still numbers in the BT phonebook when I got it. Not saying if I paid full price, $398.89, it would have been different, but it's a possibility.

Have any chance to check?
Ive gone through KLD and KGL Roms (All while running the 2.40 MCU) and its made no difference.

Also, You wouldn't happen to have torque working would you? I cant get my adaptor to connect. (even tried the MCU Xposed module) Would be nice to have it all on screen vs the small screen on the AP.

I'm thinking we need a dedicated Help Thread for this unit Specific to our Speed as not everyone here is ready for the mass thread at XDA.

I didn't get a duty fee. It's hit or miss I think. Torque pro is awesome, but the mazdaspeed plugin occasionally stops working and has to be re-installed.
Do you guys have issues with ipod connectivity? My ipod only connects 75% of the time and its really slow.

Phone buttons don't work... and I can't get them to program via the app. I have a obd2 to usb cable sitting in the garage I'm going to try with torque. Torque with bluetooth works, but is flaky.
