Default DTC P2004, P2009

So last night I installed an OCC, EGR delete/blockoff, and IM TIG. Of course, that involved removing a number of things:

- Battery box, to allow access to move the inlet hose out of the way to access the EGR piping.
- Throttle body, in order to gain access to EGR piping and remove the IM.
- Black box on top of IM, as well as disconnecting the tubing on the black box leading to that VTCS controller thing, in order to remove the IM.
- MAP sensor
- Intake manifold, to get good clearance to route the OCC tubing for the PCV outlet and IM inlet.
- a variety of electrical harnesses and plugs to pull the IM out.

I reinstalled everything, and tightened everything down. All was well, (save for the P0401, EGR CEL, which I deleted promptly) until I noticed that I wasn't making boost targets. I command 20 psi across the board from 3000 RPM on up, but I was only getting 16 psi, and it seemed to taper down as RPMs rise, mimicking the boost curve I commanded, just much lower.

This morning, on the way to work, the CEL light came back on, and this time it pulled a P2004 and P2009. P2004 was described by the scantool app as "Intake mani runner stuck open", and P2009 was described as "intake mani low circuit".

I did some searching, and the only issues related to P2004 or P2009 seem to be VTCS delete-related, which is a mod I did not do.

I did not get a chance to log yet, but this morning I went WOT for a few seconds, and noticed that my AFRs are way off as well (seeing 10.x and even high 9.x:1, when I'm commanding 11.8 at the same range). I will make it a point to log at some point tonight or tomorrow.

So I have a few thoughts running through my mind as to what could be causing my issues.
- possible loose TIH? The inlet hose isn't pressurized though, so I shouldn't be seeing massive leaks here.
- Loose IM? Possibly, but I made it a point to make sure it was bolted tight enough, and I'm sure I would've had some vacuum leak CELs by now if it was an IM leak.
- Unplugged harnesses/wiring? I'm positive I reconnected everything, but I'll check again.
- MAP wire tap for WMI controller? I disconnected the Posi-tap connecting the WMI controller wire to the MAP wire on the ECU during the battery box/ECU removal, and reconnected it after. Could a faulty connection to the controller be skewing MAP voltage readings, and therefore boost readings?
- MAP sensor - this thing is plugged and bolted into the manifold as it should be. I can't imagine my problem lies here.
- JBR Stage2 OCC setup - since the IM is now connected to the OCC outlet, could the tubing act as another airflow path and possibly pressurize the OCC, and leak through the drain valve? The stage2 kit has a check valve in place right after leaving the PCV, so I know at least air won't make it back to the PCV area if this is the case. Are tuning changes needed to account for an OCC and EGR delete?
- I checked all hoses connecting the TIH to the turbo components and valve cover. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm at work, and will try to deal with this again later.

EDIT: I should note that drivability is more or less OK, except that it doesn't pull nearly as hard at WOT. Part throttle seems to stumble a bit if I rapidly stab the accel pedal

Did you plug in the VTCS thingy on the driver side of the intake manifold?

Check all the vtcs plugs, the little solenoid on the right side of the IM, and the black box plug.

Just what they said, make sure the VTCS shit is all connected. Sounds like a leak.

You definitely have a leak someplace, as well as maybe forgetting to plug in the vtcs system.

The matt damond OCC kit has the check valve off the intake mani side to prevent pressurized air hitting the occ.

that black box on top of the mani... right below it.. there's a rubber o-ring.. check if its there also.. if its not.. then that's why your boost is low

Make sure VTCS "motor" was not damaged. @MS6FL brocke his the other weekend when we did valve cleaning. And yes, tripple check all connectors.

Yup, I ended breaking that lil white plastic piece on the VCTS that hits the switch to let the ecu know if the flappers are open or closed. Make sure that piece is still there. Apparently it breaks easy. Lol

When you installed the IM Gasket, did you use supplied spacer?

On mine I did not, and did not reinstall that bolt, or the ones that go sideways.

It sounds like a large leak and I'm hoping f-castrillo didn't crack his manifold.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will go back and recheck all the manifold bolts once I get off of work, as well as the vacuum lines and electrical harnesses around the IM (black box and VTCS control thing).

@rfinkle2 I did not use the supplied washer, nor did I reinstall that bolt. I did the same for the SURE TIG I had prior to this, and didn't have any issue. I cracked my manifold last year, so I'm familiar with the signs of a massive vacuum leak lol.

I don't remember anything being odd when I reinstalled that black box on the IM, or the vacuum plugs under it. I will double check tonight and hope that all is well. I hope the problem isn't with the JBR OCC, as I really don't want to deal with the PCV valve again lol.

Will keep you all updated, thanks!

Actually is that p2009 a circuit low input code? If so check for a pinched or shorted wire at the solenoid.

I'm gonna double check all connections and bolts, but I think I may have found the culprit in the DTC codes. Hopefully this somehow helps my boost leak issue too.

All is well now

Went WOT several times in 3rd and 4th gear, and my logger app's boost gauge read a solid 19-20psi, and maintaining my commanded 11.8 AFR the whole way. I retightened all possible clamps that could leak pressurized air, but I think my issue was with that black box plug (see video above). No more CELs!

Gonna drive her to work tonight and verify all is OK after a freeway cruise. Thanks all!

I just had this code happen to me. I went to my car after watching the video and pushed the black plastic piece in. It clicked and I smiled. SWEET!!!

Hey I had the same problem today but my speed6 was acting up yesterday also, got it a bit muddy washed it then my traction control was kicking in for no reason , that problem seemed to solve it's self after awhile, then I got that code p2009 checked the black plug that was previously mention, it was good but a grey plug to the right of it was loose hoping this solves it for me. Find out after work I suppose.
