Default EGR Problem but no CEL?

Sometimes my 2012 doesn't start as strongly as others. Cranks for a bit, starts very weak, but then eventually runs normally. Sounds like an EGR problem from what I've read but I've never gotten the P0401 code. Could it still be an EGR problem without it throwing a CEL?

If it's the egr the n just delete it from your car it's a waste anyways and would be cheaper all u have to do is get your tuner to get rid of the code right after then problem solved

So I cleaned the EGR valve and EGR tube last weekend. It was a pain in the ass, but it has not had any sort of slow or weak start since. My car had been having that issue off and on for several years, getting worse recently, but the EGR system seems to have been the issue. For now at least.

Well remember the egr recirculates through the intake manifold which creates build up of carbon inside the walls of the manifold and the valves too if u get the chance clean the throttle body the intake and the valves and see what happens from there

Yeah I actually had the intake valves walnut blasted and the throttle body cleaned by CP-E back in 2016 or 2017 when I was first having the issue. When that didn't fix it I thought maybe it was the EGR but I just let it go for a while. Now that the EGR is cleaned it seems good, and I just put in a new clutch and flywheel like 2k ago, so hopefully she's good to go for a while.

Also check your spark plugs too every 20k or the equivalent for US dont know how much if u r in the states that might be an issue too I had very weak starts because my sparks plugs were 20k over after I changed them month later car started with mo problem after that...the simple things could also be the issue all I'm saying pretty much making u start with the cheap parts first before we move on the the bigger issue it might be
